Because you are a nasty scammer, like me...

Actually, because you have to be a paid up member to use the classifieds...

A move I support !

How much is a paid up member? Do you get any benefits or freebies? :-)

Yes you get to view the Adult Section

All joking apart you are contributing to the the running of the website, plus ensure you get full access to all the sections.

I'm of little benefit to the community...

And I hoard all my goodies in the garage

LOL

P.S. And most of the posts were as irrelevant and flippant as this one...

I'm not sure why, but you can only pay via Paypal. Sorry.

I don't have paypal account.......... a product of being born in the 50's.

I guess that rules me out too.

I agree with the Paypal sentiments, but when I paid my membership it went (in)directly from my credit card via paypal to SN. No need to set up a PP account.
Don't know if it's changed now.

Thanks - I am not going to set up paypal - why anybody uses this expensive service is beyond me.

Given the security issues that ebay suffers from time to time I also wonder how sensible it is to give them both credit card and bank details....

Seems that full membership will be out of reach for me.

Shaun: Give me the money and I will paypal it for you. Just send a cheque. I trust you.

I think the reason why it is Paypal only is to do with the American Software and I agree it is an inconvenience for those of you that don't have Paypal. However, Paypal is easy to set up and costs you nothing, nor does it cost anything to use unless you have funds coming in.
While I am not fully in favour of Paypal only there are some advantages because it starts a paper trail that can be used to sort out scammers and their ilk. I don't believe that increasing the financial profitability of the site will have been a great motivator but it does take money to run the site and the For Sale and Wanted sections do need quite a lot of attention so if you wish to avail yourself of these it seems fair that you make some contribtuion.
Most people can recoup their membership fee in one or two transactions within a dedicated Subaru site.

Shaun, just to help out on understanding the prices, it is £18 per year for full SN+ membership, or £12 per year for basically the same benefits but you don't have the option to remove the adverts and restore full forum width.

It's obviously up to you which you chose (should you go ahead), but I hope the above helps.

Which? Let me know and we will sort it.
Do you not find it very inconvenient to operate without Paypal?

I'll pop a cheque for £18 in the post if you could give me details

Do I have any problems not having paypal ?? Nope !

As an ordainary citizen without a business to run I pay with Cash, Cheque, Direct Debit, Standing order, Postal order (not for a while),Telegraphic Transfer...........and the rest

All without paypal since I opened my bank account with the Naf West in 1976 LOL

Cheers

When purchasing I can usually do a bank transfer into the seller's bank account...

Seems to work for me !

Paypal is quick and easy and provides a paper trail so you can refer to things months later and is quicker than using bank transfer but I use bank transfer regularly particularly of high value.
The other advantage with Paypal is that the vendor and purchaser both know the payment transaction is complete immediately.

Shaun: You have email.
