that's why i asked. i never realised there was only 100 units made and they were numbered. I thought thy just had a short production run? but what do i know! lol
does anyone have a version 1 sti limited edition ?mine is no 64 out of 100.
i just wondered how many were still on the road !!!!!!
There were 100 Saloons and 100 'Wagons made each month for a couple of months, then they increased this to 200 per month of each. Which month is listed on your build plate, or does it mention the Acropolis rally victory?
As an aside, and despite my interest and having spent a great deal of time researching and importing the cars - I only found out relatively recently that what Ive stated above was the case.
When I started finding out any sort of detailed information was virtually impossible and everything had to be pieced together from snippets of sketchy information. There seems to be a lot more detailed information available now; and some previously held 'facts' have turned out to be less than accurate (which explains the mistakes in the oft-quoted C&K site too).
Thanks for that Simon. Has anyone ever heard of a M20b that was produced around the same time as the v.1 STI. It had more bhp and torque than the STI as well as other harder edge modifications. Do any of these still exist??
Was it the first of the 'S' cars. i.e s201, s202, s203 ?
Thanks for the link although that is for a much later version. I was just wondering if there were any still on the road from the 1994 production. Probably very rare ...... i guess?
not as rare as you think. theres been a couple on ebay and piston heads recently. bidded on one myself (it went for £1800)
they made quite a lot of them hence why they upped the build rate to 200 per month and then went to v2 full production (red manifold version).
a lot of people think there were only 100 or 200 made when in fact it was 100 or 200 per month!
Yep, that's one. Well found. It was more powerful than the v.1 sti once tuned by the independent company Tommykaira and they only used the WRX or WRX RA as the starting point, not the STI,, which of course was tuned by STI - lol Pity they couldn't have done a better job on the rear wing. It had quite a few tweaks which may have never again been put on an impreza during production.
