Default Need a quick fit fitter in the Mids

Hi,

I have a MY01 bugeye which needs a rebuild?? (crank gone) and I want to get it back on the road asap.

Is there anybody who does home repair or can get my Scooby in and give me a rough price for fixing it?

Got another job and hate the fact my pregnant wife has to use public transport as it's not an option where I work

Have been told 450ish for a regrind?

I'm just by the Ikea on J9 of M6.

Any help appreciated

thanks guys

Give Mark @ Thwaites Developments a call, he's a clever bloke and their prices are very reasonable.

Getting quotes in the region of £1500+ so far and really can't justify that with a nipper on the way in Nov!! It's all happening and I can't help but think I should've got this sorted earlier in the year! :-(

maybe a second hand ebgine to drop in from a crashed wrx? could be cheaper if your just wanting a standard car and not a fancy build.

Yep - that may be an option I anybody can supply and/or fit?

The companies I've called above only work with OEM stuff so I can't see them touching it :-(

or polepostion?

they will fit your engine if you take one to them or take out any (within reason) request you may have.

can get a second hand 2.0 for around 3-800 depending on your budget few more hundred to fit it

or get a 2.0 bottom end fit your heads any your away to go mate if money is seriosuly tight

I've rung Mark and he was very helpful - brought the price down to about £1200'ish which is definately better

Poleposition didn't mention the engine change as a potential idea.

I would need help sourcing an engine as I am not very technical when it comes to cars (telecoms and IT is more my field!). Once I've got an engine I guess anybody can fit or would it be somebody specialist?

Cheers for all the help guys

Sorn the Scoob, buy a little runaround for £500 for a few months, have the nipper.

Then save up for a proper rebuild/repair rather than offering a few quid to any potential spanner monkey. As for re-grinding a Scoob crank....

Good luck buddy

You have a valid point there mate but then I can't help but think I need to get the Scooby back on the road. It's not that I can't afford it - it's that I can't afford to pay in one go as I am contracted :-(

Well I can't help thinking that you will end up getting a quick bodge fix which will come to bite you in the **** in the future. Apologies for sounding blunt but it's how it comes across.

What model is it? Bugeye WRX?
