WRX PPP 0-60 MPH Tested!
Well, Well, Well.
To all those Prodrive doubters, I have conducted 3 test runs to collect data on a real life 0-60mph sprint. My car is a bog standard 2003 WRX PPP, which is well maintained and only run on 99ron fuel. I had extra weight with a passenger, weighing 8 stone, who carried out the timings.
Following 3 runs I achieved a time of 5.1 seconds. Very close to the official stated times. I could have probably got to 4.8 had the passenger not been in the car. It did however indicate that the PPP definately makes a difference to the standard setup of this car.

I would still remove it from the car, My 2003 Wrx PPP had 243bhp so i removed it and got the car ecutek now running 281bhp, So it that's the figure's with ppp i must be doing 4.5 to 60mph

Alright, Alright don't bite my head off. I'm just happy knowing my car is faster than the standard WRX and it also gives me a good indication that I'm getting the right power from a 7 year old car.

A stopwatch was used to time the car from a standstill up until it hit 60 on the speedo. For me, It's good enough to know that the car is sub 6 seconds at this stage of its life.
I know that I'm not a professional tester from Prodrive, but it still gives me a decent indication of what power the car is producing.

Yea unfortunately a stopwatch isn't very accurate at all. You could be half a second out quite easily.
And 60 on the speedo isn't actually 60 either. 99% of cars under read by anywhere from 3-6mph. So you would of needed to stop the clock at 65mph really. Either way it's very inaccurate.

I remember when I was 19 I had an argument with one of my pals about the 0-60 time of my then 1.3 Nova SR, with a stupendous 70bhp to it's name. One mag said it was 10.6secs and another said 12.5secs.
We both went out and timed it on his digital watch (they were rather soph then! ). The resultant time was exactly 10.6 secs.
Of course at the time I didn't know how inaccurate speedos can be, plus the human reaction time of using said "digital watch".
Anyway, we agree that PPP makes scoobs faster.

Only real accurate way of timing is via laser timing, lots of events and shows these days will have a 0-60 sprint where you get an accurate time - speedo is likely to be around 4mph out as well.
Either way no one cant say you dont have a quick car tho

only car i have driven and speedo agrees with satnav is the 5 series bm at work. My 03wrx was about 4mph fast. However my current jdm sti is within 2mph at motorway speeds. Thats with 225 tyres on. Might be a bit closer if i had the correct 235 section tyres.

the 0-60 difference in real life from a standard WRX and a WRX PPP would really be minimum.... half a sec can't get you no where mate..

yes, now if you were doing 0 - 100 in 6 seconds, that would be fast

Stopwatch timing is totally pointless.
This is what you want
