not boosting?
hi,
i have a 93 wrx and i fitted a boost gauge to it and it was boosting at .8bar (which i think is about right?)
i then fitted a chip that i bought from someone on here which should take it to 1.15bar, i then fitted a full decat system yesterday but its still only boosting at .8-.9bar.
what are the things to check as something is working correctly?
i have checked/cleaned the boost solenoid
cleaned the boost pipes from the solenoid (not checked for cracks/splits tho)
i dont know how to check/clean the maf nor do i the coil packs, i dont even know where/what they are!
what should i be doing?
thanks

errr sounds to me like the chip doesnt do anything. fitting a decat doesnt increase boost.
Go back to basics,
you say you fitted a chip which "should" have taken you to 1.1 bar but hasnt.
what is the make of chip? have you fitted it right? have you reset ecu?
it's easy to get a thought and run with it if you know what i mean.

the chip was bought from a lad on here! the chips have had very positive feedback from a lot of people on here!
i have fitted it the way on the instructions, so i dont think it is the chip!
i have not reset the ecu, how do i do that?? was i supposed to? lol

check ou this link for reseting ecu and also have a lok a reading fault codes as well if you dont think it is the chip.

did the car ever boost to 1.1 bar after you fitted the chip? or has it stayed at standard 0.8?
hhmmmmmm

definately sounds like te chip is doing nothing. You will know when your boosting 1.1bar as it will come in quite early (compared to thrashing it to 0.9) and pull like a train.
I gather when accelerating it boosts to 0.8 easily? if so go see the chip seller. there could be a dozen reasons why it doesnt work. (not compatible with your ecu, its a dud, does it work with your turbo? etc)

Yes, it gets to .8bar easily and then struggles to get anymore! I will try and get a replacement chip to see if it is the chip at fault! The seller has been very good lately with helping me find the problem but as you say, itay just be a faulty chip!!

the car did not start because you failed to reconnect the "j1" link, you need connect the j1 link and see how it behaves then, there is no need to remove the chip when reconnecting the j1 link as it will override it

i know that but when you unplug the chip you cant expect it to run when the link is not connected, you need to connect the j1 link to see what the boost is doing, and you need to speak to the supplier of the chip to see what they say.

It's easier to help if you keep it all in one thread. So here is the link to your other one https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...ml#post9629972
