Default Insurance companies: scammers.

it's that time of year again, car insurance is up for the Xantia at end of Septermber.

MoreThan, who I went with last year, have chosen to try and increase my premium by 20%.........we've had no claims, no problems and haven't altered the policy.

Ringing them gets an Asian woman who won't even TRY to explain why the cost has risen by more than 10 times the rate of inflation

Now, being an older boy, I get swamped with offers of so-called cheap insurance because I'm older, drive an older car etc etc.

So I spend half an hour on the phone to them and back comes my quote:£150 MORE than MoreThan!!!!!!

What a bunch of scammers.

Compare the Meerkat, here I come.............Swiftcover, £60 LESS than MoreThan!

maybe as you are getting older, there is more of a risk of a crash, forgetting to lock the car etc, apart from that i dont know

i know the feeling, i got my renewal through at the start of last month from privilage, been with them for 3 years not had a claim norr any points in the 3 years i had been with them, anyway opened the letter expecting to find some so called ''posh perks'' and they had increased the price by 107%. i throught it must be a typing error so rang up spent 45mins (most of which listening to somemusic)to find that this was indeed right, so ended the call, and in so many words said.
i took my insurance out with aviva and got it £287 cheeper than last years, so i was chuffed, in the end privilage done me a favour by making me change insurance companys.

But WHY are they all so keen to get new customers, instead of holding onto the ones they have?

Tell me about it directline has done the same with me, increased by 100+%, was paying £780 last year and the renewal was £1650 with no claims or points either.

So now insured with keith michaels through gary and got it for £800 including been able to mod it upto 450bhp with no extra charges and mods replaced like for like, so like you said TA, directline have also done me a favour also!!!

I was playing on line with quotes yesterday and found out the following by accident. I guess this will be post code dependent. It costs MORE to insure your car if you keep it in a garage. It also costs slightly more to keep your car on a drive rather than on a road or in a residents car park! Why, because you may damage the car putting it in a garage or parking it on your drive! So is a group 20 car that companies reqiuire it to have a tracker safer in a locked garage overnight....apparently not as far as your premium is concerned.

You get a £10 discount if you have a tracker fitted (not all companies insist on one being fitted) £600 for a tracker and £100 a year service charge....Don't think I will be bothering to renew the tracker contract!

Never just accept the renewal, always go on line for a new quote, you'll be surprised how much you could save, even with the same company!
