Default Fitting STI Spoiler to Bug

Hi guys,

Just bought a second hand STI spoiler for my Bug..it seems to use the four original bolts that the WRX one uses but there are several more that im guessing would require drilling of the boot to hold it securely.

Has anybody got a guide on how to fit this properly or should i bite the bullet and get my local body shop to fit it?

Cheers

If its only got four holes then its not a genuine Subaru spolier, its a replica from somewhere like DRMotorsport, that is where mine came from and I fitted using the 4 WRX holes only and double sided tape or you can use a boding agent, this will be fine however you may find your boot will not stay open anymore due to the extra weight of the spoiler.

oh ok, sorry thought you meant it only had 4 holes in it, bit fiddley that then but best to make up a template of all holes then mark on boot and drill, IIRC OE STI spoilers have a bracing plate on the underside of the boot lid to strengthen them, not sure if its a must though.

I got a new boot when i got my STI spoiler, i didn't like the idea of drilling a perfectly good boot, i may need it in the future.

Is the original subaru STi spoiler the lightest available? I take it all the others weigh the boot lid down to much to stay open properly?

boot springs are stronger on sti, not expensive to buy from dealer though

On the classic 4 bolts line up (The 2 outside bolts on each side.) and the weight keeps the boot shut. Need a STI spring/torsion bar to alter this.
