Hi all, as the title suggests, my car insurance is up for renewal and I've had a great quote from APlan. However the problem is, I've not heard of the insurance company that they are using to underwrite the quote. They have told me that its someone called Marker Study, who I have obviously Googled, and found lots of articles suggesting that they are nothing but trouble. Can anyone relate to these issues. I've obviously tried Greenlight, and have attempted to get in touch with Gary at Keith Michaels with no joy. But the APlan insurance quote is really very good, but I dont cheap insurance to become a nightmare should I have to make a claim.
Thanks for any help in the matter

I spent 2 weeks in July looking for insurance for my WRX - I got the best quote from Direct Line, even including the one's you've mentioned. I used a budget one once and unfortunately had to claim. I wouldnt go budget again, absolute nightmare but have no experience of Marker Study, sorry.

hi H2o,
No experience here either, but in my experience with all other types of insurance( properties, sports, business and tools etc) if it seems too good to be true, it generally is when it`s time for them to pay up. It might get you on the road, but if something goes wrong, sod`s law says they wont pay. I might well be wrong in this instance, but.....

I did all the phoning of so called specialists when I got my impreza a couple of weeks ago, I was getting stupid qoutes some over 2 grand! I am 34 with 17 years driving with no claims! In the end swinton did it for £650!!! Next year I won't even bother phoning the specialists, waste of a phone call!

Thanks for your comments, you seem to be echoing the thoughts of quite a few other people I have spoken to. I think I might just stick to the insurance quote I received from a larger insurer, as I dont want to have issues should I need to claim as this is my daily driver for business use.

avoid marker study, had to claim through them (non fault) they dont actually cover any mods as such, they will replace with standard parts, customer service was shocking ie never phone back, cant get through in the firsrt place etc. A-Plan were great tho.

I was in exactly the same position. My renewal was 60% more than last year, so was offered Marker Study for over £200 less.
After reading these: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews123837.html
I'm thinking I should have paid the extra.
I'm hoping that if I have a problem, A-Plan will sort it out coz they seem very good.
I couldn't get hold of Gary @KMs either, but I think he uses Marker Study too.

Renewed with Aplan today, year on year they give me the best quote and best service, not sure who underwrites it but trust Aplan to sort out if the worst happens. As said above if all mods are declared then should be no problem.
