Default international buyer problem

I have a problem, I was selling a set of morettes on ebay that I got from nick schofield on here, I got a name from nick of a bloke that was interested in the lights and emailed him directly he lives in la la land though.

anyway he made an offer which I accepted and took payment through paypal, I sent the lights via royal mail international parcels about 6 weeks ago now, he says he has not recieved them, however I cannot find the bloody reciept from rm to show ive sent them, I contacted rm about it but they say it would not be traceable once it left the uk anyway?? whats the point in that?? anyway ive checked the guys name out he uses on ebay and he is selling a set the "same" as mine at the minute yet he claims still not to have recieved them.

we didnt do a deal through ebay it was away from the site as a personal deal, and ive spent the dosh now so cant really refund him. is there anyway I can tell if he has actually got them?

im so confused.

ive not said anything to him yet apart from im chasing it up. what to do??

Even with a receipt it means nothing, I sold some gauges to a guy in france for £150 sent via royal mail airsure(Recorded and insured) but the post office worker decided to miss ticking the additional value so it was only insured for £50 or something like that, Even though i had proof of postage and all the relevant documents i still got knocked by paypal and they refunded the full payment and i was £100 out of pocket, Royal mail can not trace any item when it leaves the UK so i agree WTF is that about spending the extra cost for them to say "nothing we can do". To be honest i`ve been on ebay for over 10 years now and i am slowly deciding not to send anything abroad again as i have no protection like the buyer has with paypal, Even if it was sent insured and it was left on the guys doorstep by a foreign postal worker there is no proof he received it, So he gets to keep the item and gets his money back, The only saving grace here is that it was not an ebay transaction so, I`d do the right thing and tell him to

Ive been done over like this as well. Luckily the item was only £25. Sent it to Russia the guy claimed he never got anything.
I had the receipt and tracking number to prove it was sent , gave it to paypal . What happens? They refund him the money even though I had proof of sending.

Royal mail cant do anything either as its to do with the russian postal system. Complete waste of time sending it signed for.

These must be the most sold lights in the world...........they have changed hands more times than Clarence Seedorf. Nick sold them 3 times on ebay alone.......

Sending good out of the Uk you are better off using the likes of TNT, Fedex or UPS. OK they cost more but they are responsible for goods from collection to delivery, unlike national postal services.
