Recommendations please for locking wheel nuts.
Hi.
Looking for a full set i.e. 16 wheel nuts plus 4 locking.
I'm getting my wheels refurbished and the present nuts are starting to show signs of rust.
Would prefer non rusting for obvious reasons.
Cheers,
Mouser.

After watching a tyre fitter take off a set of expensive locking wheel nuts with a £12 tool, because the owner had lost the key, almost as quickly as the non locking nuts, I realized there was little point in having them.
If someone wants your wheels, they'll get them :-(

I don't bother with them anymore. Don't know where you live but I've never had or heard of a mate or a mate of a mate have a wheel nicked.
Also after 7 years as a copper, I've never dealt with a theft of a wheel

I stay in a quiet area but I have had a wheel stolen from the spare wheel cradle on an RS Fiesta many years ago when in a car park. Locking wheel nuts wouldn't have saved it having said that. The spare was an alloy and I replaced it with a steel wheel and I never reported it to the Police as I'm sure most people wouldn't.

Mcgard are good locking bolts though make sure you get the ones with the spinning barrell over them.
some dont which just allow a socket to be chapped over it and turned off.
with the barrell you need to break the collar then chap a socket over which takes some time so no wheel thief as time.
if you dont understand what i mean by barrell their commonly found these specific lock nuts on vauxhalls.

I was going to ask the same question - glad I checked first. Caught 2 dodgy looking men bent down by the side of my car today, whilst it was in the company car park - and came home to hubby telling me that his mate's car was on bricks in his driveway this morning, he did have nice wheels when he parked it last night.
I think I've got cheap locking wheelnuts so I'll invest in some McGards.
Ta.

scoobyparts i think it is do em, i jus got a set of 'tuner wheel nuts' full set of 20 with 4 lockers. a special key is used for all 20 nuts, a normal socket wont work. think they were 20 or 30 notes. chrome, black, blue, red or gold iirc.
