If you know the rest of the engine is good then I would just have your head gasket replaced rather than buying an unknown engine.

If it's just the head gasket, a new, unknown engine would be an unneccessary expense, and possibly counter productive.
Unless removal of the heads shows up damage, stick with what you have.
Don't forget that if the heads etc need skimmed, you will need to investigate thicker head gaskets to keep the compression ratio the same.
