Australian Import WRX spec?
Hi guys, new to the site as I'm looking at buying my first Impreza
It's a '99 WRX that the guy brought to the UK from Australia a while back. I believe the spec is the same as JDM WRXs but he said that when it was imported to Australia it had to be modified to comply with Australian emissions laws.
He didn't really know what that entailed so I'm just wondering if anyone here has any idea what that means? Presumably at least a remap so what power output would the car have and would it still need to be run on SUL or is it now closer to a turbo 2000 spec? (I'd use SUL anyway but just wondering)
Bit of a long shot but maybe there's some aussies on here that can tell me?

If the vehicle originated in Perth then the body will almost certainly be rust free

Tony is right as far as the engine goes.
Differences as far as I know are:
No headlight washers
No bright switch
Indicators/wiper controls opposite way round to later UK cars i.e. indicators on right
Dimmable instrument lighting on indicator/light control
Seats have red trim
No headlamp levelling control

I have an Aussie import. Good luck when you come to modding it! It's supposed to be a euro spec, but not all bits are. All rather fun when you're trying to get the right part to fit it :-)

It's only going to have the same power as a Turbo 2000? That's a bit disappointing, I thought it felt a little slow
Ah well, I'll still buy it I think, I was only after a turbo 2000 originally anyway as it's a daily driver. So it's ok to use 95 ron unleaded in it?

Which bits do you mean exactly? I wonder if it's maybe a better idea to just get a turbo 2000 after all if it's going to be a ball ache If I'm not getting the extra power anyway...

Well, whatever the power is, I've bought it now . You don't get many 1 owner, 62,000 mile unmodified Classics for the price I paid so I couldn't say no Is there an easy way to get an idea of the spec short of sticking it on a dyno?
Feels a lot quicker than I remember on the test drive (obviously I was feeling the pressure of the owner being sat next to me and holding back a bit). I wouldn't say it feels as fast as I imagine 280bhp would feel but maybe quicker than 215bhp, but I haven't had a fast car for a couple of years so my perception might have changed a bit and I've never had a car over 240 or so.
First thing it needs is a set of front brake discs...where do you guys get parts from and am I ok with boggo standard ones?
