Default Which one wrx or sti?

Hey Guys,

Looking for a bit of help, I have my Audi A4 on PH at the moment and am looking for an impreza.
Ive had a lot of offers for straight swaps but narrowed it down to 2.

One is a 2003 wrx sti PPP in silver, Stunning car with 85k miles on her (He's Not sure if clutch has been replaced yet, i thought it would have been changed by this stage in its life??)

The other is a 2003 WRX with the PPP also in silver, Stunning car (mint) with 69k miles on her, Clutch was replaced at 60k.

Both have FSSH and are in immaculate condition.

Not sure which one to go for (STI is tempting).

Any suggestions?

Cheers Danny.

i had this problem for the past 2 months and finally bought a 2002 STI 10 days ago (thanks hill and simon ) If it was me I would go for the STI all the way, but I would try them both out before you buy!!

The extra power is nice but the main reason i went for STI was the noise, sti bodykit, seats (so nice!!), oh and did I mention the extra power

what are your future plans? will you keep it near standard or planning to mod it heavily.

if your keeping it near standard then go STI, if your planning heavy modding then go wrx, no point in paying extra for parts that will eventualy be replaced anyway.

As above. Drive both and see which you prefer. If you choose an STI, go JDM.

both cars suit different peoples needs, both are good cars, everyone on here will say sti and a good proportion will say go jdm, but not everyone wants the same from a car, I went jdm sti as I wanted the rawness and better power delivery, but not everyone can live with them on a daily basis, if we all went jdm sti there wouldn't be enough to go around. I had a wrx for 3 years and I must say it was a good day to day car and has more than enough power for most, just not enough for me. I say drive both and see what you think,

Careful, depends on what you mean by 'heavy modding'. Generally, the STI is a better base to start modifying from. Yes, if you strip the car to a shell and change everything, then the WRX is just as good. However, if you only go for a bit of a power upgrade, then the STI all the way; stronger engine, better gearbox, brakes etc etc.

Its probably down to how you feel about the 16k difference on the cars milage
wrx sti is a good sensible car not massively undrivable wrx is a lot less miles look closley at both
this word raw which scooby owners seem to like to use confuses me having had a 430 hp typr r v3 and a 600 hp blob the type r was a ***** compared to the blob

by heavy modding im meaning engine build, suspension, brakes. Only part you'll reuse is the gearbox.

out the box STI is a better car, no doubt about that, but because it is it costs you more if you plan to mod you will save money in long run if your doing alot of replacements as above.

If your gonna have an engine build my choice would be buy one with a busted engine, either a wrx or an sti, will be even cheaper in the long run.

Put it this way, if you did buy a wrx, everytime you went out in it and you saw a Sti, you would say to yourself "what a fookin d**k I am why didn't i just buy a Sti"

Would just buy the sti for the 6 speed alone!!!
