ive searched the forum and cant find out if my key has a chip or not. its a 97 or 98 (not certain which) facelift wrx import. the key looks very plain, with no lines or anything on it. i went to get one cut today and the bloke said it would have a chip in it. can anybody tell me for sure if it has or not? thanks.

look at the base of the black plastic, on either side of the metal blade. If it has a chip, there is a tiny panel with the chip under it, it's about 2mm x5mm.

 

it doesnt look like that one. its really plain.

there is something really really tiny next to where the blade goes in, one side says subaru on it the other has the badge. looking at the writing side of the key the little thing is on the left

 

the picture is not the best but your key sound like what is in the link and that key is a chip key, is your car a uk or import?

 

its an import, the key in the link looks far more modern than mine, mine looks about the same as the one i had for my 93 wrx.
