RB320: Keep, Sell or Break???
Hi everybody!
I'm a new member to Scoobynet although I have been a long time Subaru fan. I've got an RB320 which unfortunately some idiot van driver drove into the back of..... Wrecked my pride and joy
I should be getting the vehicle back soon through insurance :-) and have been wondering what to do with it... I was initially going to repair and keep the vehicle but I've recently been hit with some debt so was contemplating selling it after repair as a Cat D. Many people have advised me to break it in order to make a good profit, but I would only do that if enough people list parts and offers and I'll see if its a healthy profit compared to selling the vehicle whole. Oh yeah sensible offers please, especially as I ain't asking for 14k for a damaged car like some idiots...
Please advise,
Thanks to all,
Harry

Keep. Beautiful car, you'll regret selling it forever.
When my engine blew in summer 2009, the car was worth about what a rebuild would have cost, and an uprated rebuild, about TWICE the value of the car.
I seriously looked into sell as is, or break, too.
But I loved that car, still do, and after persuausion by friends on here and help from a few kind people, especially Harvey Smith, it's now rebuilt and is fantastic.

A guy I know had a 06 sti. He wrote it off and hit some trees. Car was a mess and he still got 5k for it. I would be tempted to try and sort it and keep it. What quotes have you had for sorting it?

Not nice to see Harry.
Depending on cost I would get it repaired. If not let me know and I will have the wheels off you at the right price. I am in the North West and could pick them up.

Shame RB320 is a beautiful car
I can't see that breaking is a good option as it's standard parts isn't it? Cat D sale may be an option but I wouldn't buy a damaged &/or repaired damaged car normally let alone in a recession ...
How have you got it back, assuming it's a write off
TX.

should of taken the insurance money and replaced it with a nice new never smashed rb320 or tried something new
if you have the time and place to then break it as i am sure it is worth more in bits, if not sell it and move on

Hiya,
I have just brought a non turbo which is an RB320 look alike from Subaru. Only thing missing is the metal upper grill at front. Please could you let me know if you wanna sell??
Once I have the experience etc and older due to Insurance costs, this is my dream impreza!! One day ....

I can't believe something like that has written the car off, don't look that bad at all if you want to keep it long term then worth doing but if you are looking to repair then sell on probably best to break it or sell as is.

hi all,
tbh I did not expect so much of a response, thanks for the community spirit! first of all yes I am a brownface :-)
and yeah it was really upsetting... especially as I had just had the vehicle fully valeted on the same day looking forward to flexing it on eid (brownface christmas). she was gleaming looking like a bad **** when a dozy bas**rd in a van kept on driving when he should have been braking... got a picture of his van as well, feel like putting it up and shaming the git. its got his company name all over in graphics so everyone would know to avoid the ****** on the road,
right ho, to business! i've recently learnt that selling the car as it is is the least profitable option, so sorry to all who wanted to snap up the bargain ;-) apparently i'd be a mug if I didnt fix it myself and then sell it or break it. i've got a lot to learn about the car trade me thinks.
thirdly i bought the car out of lust, saw it and just wanted it. so i don't even know which number it is... can anyone help me find out? i've scoured the rb320oc registry but to no avail, or i'm doing things wrong i suppose.
i'm still learning how to use scoobynet, never used a forum before. will try and 'quote' people and reply to all messages periodically. i never thought i'd have so many people to talk to!
peace!

still confused on what to do
how'd you blow the engine? just raggin it all the time? mine needs a heavy service:-) i love driving it quickly, ruins the point of powerful cars if you dont:-)
i fancied building mine further... its got a front mount, hks ssqv dump valve, hks mushroom intake and a remap. any advise on what these engines can do without forging? and what can be done?
could end up building her into a ferrari killer :-)
I was planning on installing:
-bigger injectors
-uprated plugs
-a bigger turbo
-ebc redstuff all round
-remap
any advise on specifics would be appreciated,
cheers,
harry

i've heard breaking the car will give me max money out of the car... does anyone have an idea how much all of it will be. would literally sell everything if its a good amount more than what i'd get if i repaired the car first and sold it as damaged. fancy a gt-r :-) sorry i know that might be considered blasphemy on here...
