Default whats the best spec for a classic impreza

as in whats the best power to have for a impreza before it starts getting too silly and what would that spec be ?

example on a cossie you would run grey injectors and a t34 turbo and rs500 cooler and 044 pump and get around 380bhp, to get after that it gets alot more involved with head work and cams and the price just doubles then you need to look at transmission blah blah blah

what sort of power for example would my V3 STI be good before it starts getting long and and what would the spec list be

who has these conversions and who decided they wanted more and who regretted it also

My mate runs a fairly low spec engine wise version 3 type R in time attack and it has been pretty reliable at 320bhp. The only modifications are Apexi power FC, full exhaust, oil cooler, alloy rad, boost controller, FMIC & induction kit.

The car had been really reliable given the use it's had and the amount of track miles it's covered, every single time attack session he was out for the entire session and it's done lots of trackdays too but it finally gave up in warm up at Snetterton the other week and that may be because it's been sat for a year and only driven in and out of a garage.

You really don't want to start pushing the power past 350bhp if you are on a budget and want reliability and for that you would also need a bigger turbo (VF35)

I think he needs his power fc for his new engine They are good ecu's it's what I've got for mine

350 is more than enough in a Classic. Sort the chassis and brakes out and it will be hard to want more.

Till you get use to the power

I sold my VF 35 to a club member, his classic made 330 bhp, and the clutch let go within a week.

If you fit an uprated item now while the box is in bits you may get to 340 bhp or a bit more with methanol...

And then you just cross your fingers as to how long the box lasts...

IMHO.

Im hoping a 400bhp classic sti type r with standard bottom end and gearbox is the quickest you can go without breaking anything or costing the earth to achieve!!!!

I;ll let you know once mine is broke or ran out of money!!!!!
