Default MD321 H question

So i am going to bite the bullet and get a MD321 H turbo for my 2005 STi UK PPP. Am hoping to get a good second hand one but if i must go new then thats what i will have to do. As money is a bit tight i am going to have to get the turbo fitted and mapped and then at a later stage get injectors, FMIC etc, etc.

So my question is does anyone know what bhp i should be getting with a PPP exhaust, Green filter and a Walbro fuel pump after a remap?

Look for a T m8, much better suited to a Newage STi imo. At least you won't want to be swapping it out at a later date if you want to take the mods further

i think the prodrive exhaust max's out about 360-370 bhp as it's a 2 1/2" system but i may be wrong

might be worth looking at a 3" system

370ish with the PPP exhaust & cats (exhaust or injectors might hold you back)

De-cat and 650 injectors should hit 400ish

Surely it's better/cheaper in the long run to save up and do the whole shooting match at once?

I am sure it would be cheaper in the long run as you would only have to have one remap. But lets be honest here, i am not waiting a year until i have money for the full set up.

Would the H not spool faster than a T? I have heard some say that with VVT you can get a T to spool pretty fast, would you not get a H to spool even faster?

Sure thing, did you put a SC46 on standard headers and exhaust?

subscribed to this.....
im at 345 with ported headers, ported vf35, 3" milltek turbo back and k&n panel.

was looking at sc turbo, md321 h or t to hit near 400 with some 650's.

wanted to retain top mount and standard intake.... my04sti.

im thinkin md321h will get me near to 400 with the best spool but dont want to buy the wrong turbo

Same here.

I know the T is futureproof, but i won't want to take it over 400bhp as i don't want to strain the engine too much.

400 with minimal lag will do me nicely

How does 1Bar by 2800Rpm sound to you?? That's what my T makes with one of Harveys up pipes and supporting mods Actually less laggy than my VF35 was

Thats awesome!! I dont think i trust myself though, if i had a T i am sure i would wind up the boost. Atleast with the H i know i cant go more than 400.

BOBSKI, you got a graph you can post up for me mate?

i asked simon (jgm) this "which turbo" Q. his response was that as i wanted to stay on standard internals then the H was better suited for under 400 as the T would not perform properly. change the internals, add fmic and bigger injectors and the T is the one to go for. tbh i have done neither as yet, as i know that i will sadly only crave more lol.

Agreed. Better to save for injectors etc then install all at same time otherwise you'll pay for 2 maps.

Not as yet M8. Zak @ Mocom is going to email it across when he gets chance. I've got a Perrin FMIC sitting in the kitchen to be fitted as soon as funds allow. That will be the final piece of the jigsaw at the moment

Hopefully with the final mapping I shouldn't loose any spool with the FMIC and even gain some more torque & Bhp.

i think we should have a sticky for what actually works as regards turbos and their limits, 18 months ago i was told td05-20g, then md321, now sc360...... and so on !

correct me if im wrong but the 20g seems a little dated in comparision now ?

if i go md321T then i will want to push 450 and that means adding strength to the sti block..... that = ££££

i dont really care much for racing tools up and down dual carriage ways in a straight line ! dont see the point !

md321H with good spool, ie sorted headers and a 3" system pushin 400 bhp makes for a v good road car !

am i the only one that cant see the need for front mount and induction kit when 380-400 is reached without going down this route.

opinions please ?............................

There is two cars in scotland pushing 450hp+ on the Sti TMIC. MD321t and T+ i think.

The 2.0 Sti is ok to about 450hp, im not sure i'd be that brave on a ej257 tho.

If you want 400hp on pump gas its hard to beat the MD321H for spool and responce.
