R Reg 2.0 Turbo Wagon Battery Change HELP
Hi everyone. I've finally joined the incredibly awesome club of Subaru owners. Actually, I've been one for a few months now. I just stumbled on this site and think it is beautiful to see this repository of experience and guidance which is a meeting place for Scooby gurus and noobs (like me)
Righto! Straight to the topic. I noticed that the engine was sounding different when I switched the headlights on/off. Also, the aftermarket single DIN AIO began to take ages to rollout. On cold starts (during my mandatory 5minute warm up), the car would really struggle at first. I got the battery checked at my local garage and was told the alternator was fine but, the battery had to go. I was quoted £89 for a Bosch replacement.
Now, I dont mind spending the money. Its just that I want to be absolutely sure the choice is correct and has good value for money. There are no modifications to the car other than the stereo.
Before posting this, I did a search to see if a similar question had been asked. Maybe there should be a sticky to help people undestand what battery they need.
I saw a thread started by Tim's wrx where he has claimed to purchase and install a Bosch battery for just £53 (https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...batteries.html) It's pretty cool and if my garage sells me something similar, I would rather spend the difference donating to charity.
After watching my precious struggle like that on startup, I want something OVERKILL so I can throw away the key n never worry about it again. 700 CCA?
I think the Bosch specs at my local garage are 60Ah and 550CCA.
If anyone has any comments or experience in this area, your comments will be much appreciated. Thank you
P.s. , I love how all Scooby owners say hi to each other when driving by.

Thanks for the overwhelming response. I bought the battery at the link mentioned above. It is spot on and my car is humming away beautifully.
Thank you 'Tim_wrx'
£53 when it costs £89 at the garage. BARGAIN!!
