Default Knockhill Track Day.......

Me and group of mates are planning a track day for fun and to sort out who really does have the edge!!! I am just wondering how things will/should stack up...

Cars:

182 trophy
Astra VXR - 304bhp
Astra GSI - 296hp
Focus RS Mk1 - 290bhp
05 Impreza WRX - 340.3 bhp (Mine)
Serria Cosworth - 300bhp
Impreza Classic WRX - 305bhp
306 HDI - 185bhp
Evo 7 - 365bhp

Neglecting driver abillity, who should emerge on top. My impreza is just as quick as the Evo, and would imagine due to the quick spool setup would win on the track, only issue being it remains on standard brakes.........

Real issues maybe the vax's???

Any thoughts

On track I would be worried about the Focus RS and Evo The clio could also be a shock result and would be a lot of fun

Although your as fast as the Evo (probably in a straight line) he will more than likely out corner you and out brake you everywhere else, remember unless you have done any handling mods your Impreza will handle like a barge on track, Imprezas are grippy due to the 4WD but they dont handle well.

But you might be a decent enough driver and he might drive like a poofter so alot of things could come into it.

Well i said take driver ability out of the equation as i competed in the snowman rally and several other rally events. However, my wrx has sti struts and eibach springs.

I dont want to loose to much ride quality, but any suggestion to make the impreza really handle. droplinks/bushes?

P.s. 0-100 in the wrx in question : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0hA-byyXr8

Drop links, anti roll bars, anti lift kit and a decent geometry set up will do it a world of good. throw in a decent set of brake pads and some dot 5.1 brake fluid as well.

Any recomended setups/brands, guessing whitline would be the place to start.

As for brakes, i have serious issues of the front discs warpping on the road, not tryd red stuff pads but any suggestions ( other than brembo/ap upgrade) to assist/cure this problem?

Whiteline for the ALK, ARB etc. brake pads is more down to preferance TBH, I like the Ferodo ds 2500's, if your continually warping discs on the road where you wouldnent normally generate enough heat then I would imagine you have some sort of problem with your brakes, I have brake dics from Ian Godney http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/ and cant fault them for daily driving and trackdays, they used to come with a one year guarantee but im not sure if this is still the case, talk to Ian he's a helpfull bloke and will probably tell you on the phone what the problem is with your current set up.

I get my geometry done from Clark Motorsport in Aberdeenshire as well.

Na there isnt a problem with the brakes, its just they get used alot and most of the time is 20-30mins of hard acceleration and hard braking.

What sort of cost for the geo setup and droplines etc?

306 HDI FTW

LOL

dunx

P.S. Rear ARB will kill off lots of understeer, 24mm for a smooth driver, 22mm for a "monkey" like me !
