Default Help needed Boot looks like a swimming pool

Can anybody help
Bought a 2001 bug eye impreza WRX about 3 months ago
sold my subaru turbo 2000 to fund this
But it was too good to miss full subaru service history from new and in mint condition apart from every time it rains my boot becomes a swimming pool
Took it back to the garage as it came with 12 month warrenty they said it was the boot seal wich I also thought as the turbo 2000 also had this problem untill I replaced it.
First time they gobbed it up with silicone so it had to go back and eventualy they replaced the seal (I saw them change it) But it rained last night and yes it still leaks
Does'nt seem to be coming from the seal but from just beind the boot hinge on the drivers side if I park the car facing up hill it don't leak but I would like to be able to park it any which way I like without having to mop the boot out
So any info would be great

I know this sounds mad but......
Dry the boot of all water,
Jump in the boot armed with a torch and shut the lid with you inside,
Get a buddy to simulate rain fall with a garden sprayer to identify the leak,
Common places are the spoiler holes, the rear light seals and the boot seal.
Oh and make sure there are no dead leaves, or muck in the channels where water is ment to drain away around the seal.

You may need to remove the rear parcel shelf and look at the rear screen seal. Mine went, along the bottom. When I sprayed water on it, there was just a pinhole and TINY drops, but over half an hour, enough to soak the rear shelf, the seats, the boot floor.

Had exactly this issue on my 03STI. It was the bottom of the rear window seal and the water was running down and dripping just behind the hinge. Might be the same on yours.

Either way remove the bung under the car on the wheel well as this is rusting as we speak leave it off and put a quick wipe of waxoyl round the edges to make good. I always remove them as they are rust traps ! also helps draining

I think the window seal is probably the next thing to look at regarding the reply's it still has original spoiler and I have checked that to see if water was getting in there is there a cheap cure for window seal like silicone or is it a window out and re seal? thanks for all the replies

Seal on back lights maybe?

May answer the 'depends which way you park' question.

You need to seal it correctly, check your insurance policy, if it's covered, its cracked rear window time!!

do you park on a hill? I get a little bit of water in if it rains and the car is parked facing down hill, I realised this through the help of our fellow scoobnetters. Now I always reverse in to my drive and so park facing up hill. Since then no water in the boot.
But, mine never looked like a swimming pool so could be totally different.

I've been having the same problem with my 53 plate STi. Was always worse when parked facing down hill as water off rear window and boot would collect at one corner. Water would not run down channel unless car was driven or car parked other way on hill. Poor design I believe.
Sent car for water test and no leaks identified so come to the conclusion either hinges on boot need adjusting to stop water slowly seeping between rubber seal and boot lid or water run in to boot as soon as boot was opened as the water poured over the rubber seal.

Yes i only get water in the boot if I park the car facing down hill the water pools in the corners by the rear window. I have started parking facing up hill and this solves the problem but I would like to fix it. I think I will have to have the screen taken out and re-seald will let you all know (as soon as I can aford) how it goes. Thanks for all the replies.

If you removew the rear parcel shelf on a dry day and get someone to spray water at the rear screen while you sit and watch from inside, you'll SEE if it's leaking, trust me. Then you'll know whether to have it resealed.
