Default Whats the likely power output?

Hiya!

When I bought my car it was a standard 05 STi Blob with about 265bhp or whatever it is they come with.

I've had fitted a K&N air filter, a turbo back Blitz nur spec R exhaust (the downpipe cat is still there but the other one has been taken out), and a Forge dump valve.

The car has not been remapped since the work was done, and I was just wondering, what is the power likely to increase to if the remap is done? Is it going to completely transform the way the car drives, or just make it "a bit better"?

Cheers!
Chris

I would add a sportcat first, then go for remap, should get about 330bhp.

You've got what's called a CAT back system sharpy... and untill you remove the restrictive cat in the downpipe, by either swapping for a prodrive 100 cel sportscat or going the cheaper de-cat route you'll still be pegged at 290odd even with a re-map.

Current BHP will be 270odd with standard boost settings

And to answer your question... "a bit better" would be the answer. to get "completely transforms" you'd need to do the above as a lot of the increased performance is due to the quicker spool up of the turbo at lower revs....

Ok sounds good, so the downpipe cat really is quite restrictive then?

Would it still pass the MOT with just a sportcat and no secondary cat? Its not *too* much of an issue if it doesn't, but I wouldn't mind knowing if it will or not! Also, how much would a sportcat cat?

Thanks for the info so far!

yes it will still pass an MOT with just the One sports cat in place (make sure you thrash it to the mot station for good measure though)

Price £250-£600+ depending on where you look and what make you want!

A mechanic may phrase it as " make sure the cat is suitably warm "

either way..... don't poodle to the MOT test like Miss Daisy

My last car was an 05 STI.
It was PPP'd from new so it had the sports cat downpipe.
It was remapped by Andy Forrest to approx 335bhp, Andy told me that it would achieve approx 350bhp

As for MOT time, and getting the CAT hot.
We'll that was a 12/13 mile drive there, so that route at normal speed(50 ish average) was as hot as it got and it passed its first MOT.
It also passed its second MOT - but with a new owner.

Awesome, thanks for all the help as always guys! I don't drive the car all that much, about 5000 miles a year I reckon. Most of those miles are going to and from work (1 mile from my house haha how lazy is that!).

Thinking of getting a daily car though, so I can just use the (hopefully soon to be sport catted and remapped) scooby at weekends, so as not to ruin it by using it only when its cold - I've heard they don't like that sort of use.

Any little runaround will do, maybe one of the old shape Tigra's maybe 10 years old or something... Can get one for pretty cheap cash, I reckon a grand max, and they don't look *too* gay, unlike the new shape which is definitely for the ladies :-D

But is it a bit wasteful having a nice Subaru and only doing 1000 miles a year, which is what would happen if I made it my weekend toy...

Cheers!

I would walk it, that will just sh@g the engine up (as on any car, you need a good 5 miles to get it up to temperature, 1 mile will just coke it up and cost you a packet to sort out )
