Default what to take my car on track....what 2do??

hi peeps, I was given a gift to drive a super car around a track, so went for the skyline GTR35 on the PRO-DRIVE track in warwickshire. The experience was great, now I want to take my scooby on a track but dont know where to start? I've only owned my scooby since July but me and my brother (who has a Escort RS Turbo) want to take it on track to enjoy the cars, would love to even take it on some nice roads......where to start?

Depending on your confidence just do it. Go online and book one up. Try a novice day if your worried.

If its just for a laugh and you prize your car perhaps go to bedford, avoid air fields if you like your tyres/paintwork.

You can cope with stock tyres n brakes, however they wont last long. Depends what you want to do.

just do it

MSV run some good novice and open pit lane days. Novice days allow you to do 7 x 20 minute sessions, with similar driver ability/car performance around you (they ask you to rate your confidence and car ability prior to the day).

Trackdays.co.uk also have days available but are run through third parties like Javelin trackdays so you can end up with quite a 'amature' feeling day (can cost less money).

I'd strongly recommend an MSV novice day as a good place to start. Driver training is also available for 20 quid a session. It isnt all like being told to suck eggs and everyone is very respectful on track.

As for the trackwork, take it easy at first, brake fade will be the biggest enemy for a totally standard car. Brim the trank before you get to the circuit with premium fuel.

Any further advice, there are a few threads on hear with trackwork recommendations etc.

Just make sure your car is in a post-service condition before you go - all fluids etc up to the marks. Check your wheel nut tightness after each run and enjoy yourself. Youtube or use a game (TOCA 3 has most UK circuits including Bedford Autodrome GT) for learning the tracks prior to the event - it hugely improves your enjoyment if you know where the track goes next)

Just dont get too over excited too soon. Seen a lot of cars written off on a first trackday. And prepare the car also. Oil change before and after and brakes after would be a good idea. And a spare set of wheels
