Does a 'W' plate UK car exist in Reddish Blue?
#1
Anyone.....
I am asking for a friend who is going to look at one today in a garage. He has sent me a picture of the car and it looks in very good condition.
The thing is, the sales man is telling him it is a geniune UK car on a 'W' plate??? Was this an option then???
I had a 'W' MY00 and went for the DBM colour. At the time I enquired about the alternative blue colours and the dealer told me no to any other blue, only on Euro imports was this available.
A quick reply would be most appreciated as my friend is about to drive 70 miles to the garage in the next couple of hours to have a look in the flesh. He will not go if it is a euro import!!!!
Cheers guys and gals

Me too, ordered mine in November 1999, took delivery in March 2000. Also, was not available to order at that time.....
Strange, is this garage trying to pull a fast one....?

Can't be a debadged Terzo, definately a 2000 registered car.....
Dealer is now claiming that the car has only been in a short time and he does not know the difference.
It is worth mentioning that this garage is not an authorised Subaru dealer.... Says it all really
Apparently he is a bit p155ed off now with my mate.... As he has just rung him to ask a few more questions about the authenticity of the car.
Cheers

He is pissed off with your mate - your mate is the CUSTOMER!!!! Nothing wrong with an EU import if you have the right warranty and price, but sounds as though the dealer doesn't know what they are on about or it is a cover up. There are plenty of decent cars out there. Suggest go for a MY99 anyway - they are quicker - better ECU map - later ones strangled for emissions.

I think he has stopped talking to them now. Like you say, so long as the warranty and price are right it is OK, which in my opinion, the price is not right on this car at 14k...

Hi Simon,
Good Holiday? I believe you could get that colour as an Irish import (as mentioned above). If so then the car is classed as a UK car and should carry the 3 years Subaru warranty. This can be extended.
My car is an Irish car and I've had warranty work carried out (clutch) just before the original warranty expired.
You're right though IMO the price is too high.

Yes, great holiday thanks, and no broken bones which is a bonus....
Intersting what you say then, if it is Irish import and carries full 3 years warranty, then not so bad at all. Only needs to get them down on the price then now.
He is going to look at another one in any case now at a different garage, but may be interested again in this one if the price was right.
Cheers mate

PS. Hows the zorst, still smiling???

FB, Thanks for clearing that up . I wasn't certain but I thought you could get that colour in Northern Ireland. I've learnt something new today.
Simon, You can trust FB on this one, he's from N. Ireland and knows his stuff (when he's not being a muppet )
The zorst is great, sounds lovely
Glad you enjoyed the skiing, the question is though can you get the STi back from your dad
Cheers

LOL
Took me 4 hours to get from Gatwick to the Derby on a coach. 1 hour in Kates Saxo to my Dads, and that was going some. About 30 seconds to get my keys back LOL
Had to laugh, he went out on Bank Holiday Monday with my mum for the day and spent most of the day, within 200 yards of the car, because my mum was nervous that something would happen to it. Parents hey!!! Gotta love em!! Best of all, my Dad had a torrid time with the immobiliser, apparently he kept getting the ignition/immobilser sequence wrong and setting the alarm off, highly embarassing for him... Funny
No, it is back where it belongs now.....
Cheers

LOL....I know what you mean. Whenever my dad drives mine he always complains about the immobiliser. He can't understand what he has to do if he leaves it longer that 30 seconds. How he can't get in the car and start the engine within 30 I don't know
He sits there blipping the fob inside the car, then the alarm goes off, he gets embarresed...........blames the car and drives off like a loon

I have a redish blue MY98 5-door and it does look very similar to the picture but it is very difficult to tell exactly. See if you can get the paint code from under the bonnet and phone up a Subaru dealer to ask if its redish blue.
