Dodgy connection for the pump. The wires run under the back seat on the driver side, has anyone been jumpin about the back seat or have you had any paying guests in the back recently..

It sounds as if its in test mode.

Underneath the steering wheel, roughly about knee height youve got two sets of plugs, black and green, these shouldnt be connected, have a look and make sure that there unplugged..

They are underneath, if you lie down at the pedals and look up in at the wires you should see the plugs, if they have never been used they will be taped onto the loom otherwise they should be hanging about, but should be disconected

Just to echo some of the above comments, my 04 WRX did the same when it hadn't been used for a week or so, I cured it with a new battery.

Is the battery fully charged? Was it a decent one?
Are there any other symptoms? Lowly lit clock? Alarm going off?
