Default Clarkson has bought himself an Impreza

http://www.car4play.com/forum/post/index.htm?t=4159

Anybody on here know which one he has?

Not the best way to advertise an Impreza seeing as he had to abandon it but he has some very good things to say about it.

true that, some of the comments on there are just so

>> ‘I would have been fine,’ he insisted. ‘But everyone around me had got stuck so
>> it was impossible to get round them.’
>>

Yeh, right! Except the 4x4 who picked him up... Yet another who can't just admit that the reason he was stuck was HIS fault for trying to drive an unsuitable car for those conditions...

When are people going to start taking responsibility for their own actions? I see that labour are getting in on the blame culture this morning as well... even though they were the ones in charge up until recently... pot and kettle methinks!
probably one of the most suitable cars, although I wonder if the tyres were suitable.

It might have AWD, but it doesn't have a great amount of ground clearance. With the best will in the world you're not going to make any progress if the snow's too deep.

well that maybe so but it would have to be pretty deep to stop a 1 tonne car with good traction wouldn't it.

this guy's ploughing it through.

Who knows, perhaps he had slicks or worn down summer tires.

Or maybe he ran out of fuel, the car broke down, big end blew, etc... so then he rings a mate to pick him up, who wouldnt?

From what I can tell he had to abandon the Impreza as people were getting stuck in front of him and he couldn't continue his journey.

Perhaps the 4x4 that picked him up could negotiate around the cars obstructing its path by going "off road" along the embankments or something.

Snow will stop most vehicles if it compacts ahead of them. Even 4x4 vehicles with high ground clearance.

I'm wondering if Clarkson has got himself a new saloon? Either way its really good to hear him say that it is one of the most important cars ever.

Which with all the best will in the world I can't hear him saying about the hatch. And no that is not said with my hatch hating head on.

Then again I can't see him out in the 22B in snow. Maybe!!

I bet its a Legacy, not an Impreza. The journalists are just being lazy/sensationalist describing it as a sports car.

The leggies are very popular with the horsey set / oxford set and I remember him raving about it when it was on TG

but agree loads of "drivers" out there doing 5mph when gritted clear roads where 60mph would still give a good degree of safety. I understand and accept for caution to go slower but some peeps are just going tooooo slow.

I'm 99% sure Clarkson has a Leggy. He has raved about the Leggy before that at the cost of them they are so much better than all the rest of the 'Soft-Roaders'.

Yeah, someone probably said he was driving his "Subaru" instead of "Impreza" or "Legacy"

didnt you read the WHOLE STORY?

Last night, Mr Clarkson was reluctant to accept that his 155mph Subaru Impreza WRX, which he has called ‘one of the most important cars ever’, might not have been ideal for the conditions.

Now we are back to the report saying he has an Impreza, shall we hazard a guess which one he has?

I read it - Don't believe everything reported in internet forums.

Clarkson on Imprezas:

Clarkson on Leggys:

Which one do I think he would have bought??

I saw the original article in the Mail on Sunday. I guess we should strike a balance between accepting some things reported but not blindly accepting all.

Its seems highly likely he is presently driving a Subaru. Maybe its an Impreza, maybe its a Legacy. As the report said WRX its more likely that he is driving an Impreza. Is it his own car? Does it matter? Even if it is he wont have it five minutes.

Did he say it is one of the most important cars ever? Again it aint the end of the world if he didnt but if he did say that it will give the image and reputation of our beloved marque a little boost which cant be a bad thing.

As we know Clarkson has the ability to ruin a cars reputation.

As long as he didnt say that the car is a load of bollox then it doesnt matter.

If he said nice things on top gear about the Impreza that to me would be great. Call me a fool perhaps but I really dont mind.

Thats my thinking.

However, there is a clue; the report does say 155mph Subaru. Now there are very few Subarus that can offically do 155mph (well, Uk spec at least - assuming JDMs are restricted : WR1, P1 and 22B,

Type Uk, Spec D and RB320 are officially rated at 158mph.

All teh rest are are sub 150mph cars (officially before people start waving ******* about thier own Impreza's top speed ).
