Default eBay Fees!

I'm slightly confused by the eBay auction fees.

Category
Starting price
Insertion fee
All categories, except those listed below
£0.01 - £0.99
Free *

£1.00 - £4.99
£0.15

£5.00 - £14.99
£0.25

£15.00 - £29.99
£0.50

£30 - £99.99
£1

£100 or more
£1.30

The insertion fees i understand but the final % i don't.

Category
Final selling price
Final value fee
All categories, except those listed below
£0.01 or more
10% of the final selling price (up to a maximum of £40)

So say i list an item for £100+ that's £1.30.
Lets say it sells for £150.
Are they taking £1.30 plus 10% of £40 which is £4, total of £5.30?
Or is there another % after the 10% of the £40?
Or is it just 10% of everything which is mad!

eBay fees page here:http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html

Thanks

10% of £150 = £15 to a max of £40.

What so up to £40, so after £400 it's still £40?

Thanks

Ebay fees are shocking. Use to be cheap for buying stuff but now companies and individuals now have to add about £10 just to cover ebay and paypal fees!

You even get restricted now though on postage fees on certain items/catagories, they are ribbing barstewards, much harder to make a good profit on there nowadays!

Paypal are owned by the same people that own ebay which makes it worse. You have to pay a fee to be paid for the item that you pay a fee on that you have already paid a fee to list.
...oh and then if the buyer says its not as described or wheres my item you then lose all your money and end up being far worse off than you were before. The problem is they are short on buyers, not sellers!
