Default UK vs WRX power question

A friend has a uk with full de-cat fmic cone filter polar performance chip running 17psi which i think is 1.15bar, the previous owner said was rr @ 280bhp has got print out i think, but he went in my version 2 yesterday and was amazed at how much quicker is was, i have the 260ps version 2 with version 6 tmic, panel filter, avc-r set at 1.15bar, and cat back exhaust,

but what makes the imports faster than the standard uk cars is it just the ecu and fuel issue?

cheers mark

Well the gearing is shorter which helps things, a uk car's gearbox has quite long ratio's so doesnt feel or go as quickly as a jdm with similar power.
