Mods, feel free to move to southern if you feel that's a better place for this to be

i'm very tempted to go trackdaying, now the new brakes are bedded in.

Trying to find some local tracks to me (kent)

The obvious one is Brands Hatch.

But, I know they do bike racing at lydden hill, just wondering if they do car trackdays. Might be a nice cheap track to play on.

Lydden Hill is owned by McLaren as far as I am aware. They bought it to change into a multi million pound road and f1 car development centre but never got the planning permission to do it. It involved digging down 50 odd metres and having the track below the ground level to minimise noise.

I looked into this last year but didnt get far (didnt try hard !). Fiance's uncle used to live with the family that owned/run it and still run it so i will see what i can find out.

I asked bookatrack if they'd considered it, and the answer was they'd looked at it but it wasn't worth doing. It was a combination of things, including noise regs, only being allowed by the council to run a certain number of days a year (which means that hiring the track is expensive), etc.

Thanks chaps.

Looks like I'll hire out brands hatch for a post birthday bash then

Anyother tracks or airfields in the Kent/Sussex/Essex area that might be worth a look at?

Checkout the Trackdays folder - talk of Brands Indy circuit there in a couple of weeks - it is a SIDC deal via a trackday company, saving a tenner. I'm going.

Markus, Lydden used to be big enough for cars as I used to go down and watch rallycross and loads of other stuff....remember a cerain Keith Ripp rolling his mini down the hill !!!

Can't say I've been there for a few years, but track is certainly wide enough for cars.....even those with huge breaks !
