Default supply fit and rescale of a MAF sensor

Hi all

There is a strong possibility that the MAF sensor on my 99 version 5 sti is faulty and I was wondering what sort of price I could expect to pay at a main dealer.

Been told it will take an hour and a half to do a diagnostic to find out whats at fault before I know for certain.

Would be easier/cheaper just to buy a new one - give Alyn at AS Performance a ring. IIRC about £100 delivered if not a bit less. Can fit it yourslef in a few minutes....

Or try Keith at Scoobyprojects (sourced through Nick & Cath at Advanced Automotive):

Just refit, disconnect the battery for half an hour to reset the ecu and clear any fault codes, then connect battery back up and away you go

Gotta love main stealer quotes..... The hour and a half diagnostic will consist of nothing more than connecting the two black connectors under the steering wheel and then reading the fault codes off the CEL - something else you could do yourself in minutes. There will be plenty of guides on here as well as a 'key' as to what the sequences of CEL flashes mean (they come out like morse code).

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...eadingECUCodes

Once new one is fitted, read the ECU codes using the black connectors again to ensure you get the 'all clear' signal, as shown in the link above.

Job done, wonga saved...

hi there just did the ECU code things with the black connectors and I appear to have a score of 44 if i understand it right indictating a "turbo charging pressure control signal"

bare with me on this one troops it was my first time

If a dash = 10 and a dot equals 1

Its flashed dash dash dash dash dot dot dot dot - 1.8sec pause. = 44 if im right

If it was the MAF it would have been dash dash dot dot dot - 1.8 sec pause = 23

What causes the 44 fault code for turbo charging pressure control signal? a split hose

Could've been an old code.

A faulty maf won't neccessarily throw up an error code either.....

Yep, start with that and see what you get. Just disconnect the battery for at least half an hour.
