Default Which brakes are better

Guys,
Not sure which to go for.
I've been offered an unused ap kit ,330/28 ap discs ,ap cp5000 calipers ,gold bells and brackets ,mintex pads and full hose kit for £900
or the GB from Bren for the K Sport 356mm 8 pots with yellowstuff pads at £859.

What do you think?

Bite his hand off for the AP's at that price - must be half retail price at least for all that.

Yes, the AP's are outstanding brakes, even at 330mm, these fit under 17 inch wheels, the K sports you would need 18 inch wheels (also what car do you have and what wheels?).

I've got a uk2000 wagon running 300Bhp at the moment with 18" Inovit Tarmac's sitting in the shed waiting for a wheel nut delivery.

I've also been offered secondhand Brembos with discs and new pads for £475 delivered.

K sports in 6 weeks & Ap's I can put a deposit down and pay at the end of the month. Brembos I can afford now.

My personal choice is the Ap's as well because there so cheap but just don't know what to do for the best.

unless your doing alot of track days I cant see you using the Ksport to there full potential. I would go with the AP brakes but at the end of the its up to you. Bigger looks better but your going to need alot of heat to get them to full working temp.

Depends on use but the Brembos would do a great job with the correct discs and pads.
Not worth paying through the nose if your not using them to the full potential.

I am planning on doing some track days this year. This is my first Scooby that's not being used as a family car. Although I want to keep it a bit family friendly for scoobynet family days out etc.

I've got Brembo GT's Had the refurbed for around £500 at Godspeed. New 328 mm discs fitted to the GT bells, refurbed the calipers and Godpseed Kevlar pads. £475 for Brembos sound expensive as you will have to get them refurbed at some point, which makes the new AP deal sound very good IMHO

You need a set of knackered Brembos and discs in the first place, so you need to buy a set first. Remember mine aren't scoob Sti Brembo's but Grand Turismo, which cost the price of a good second hand scoob when you buy em new in the first place .

Mine came with the car in the first place, so just got the calipers done up, repianted and a new set of discs to fit the original housings. Like brand new now and bloody awesome

I wish I had the GT Brembo's rather than the STI ones. Much wider choice of wheels to cover them.

I know the AP brake kits are very good, but if buying new how good are the k sport 8 pots with 330mm discs, I ask as I am looking at a brake upgrade and i'm not sure what way to go.

1. 8 pot k sport kit with 330mm discs as i have the STI 17inch wheels. £699 on the group buy.

2. upgrade the discs and pads for performance friction two piece floating and 01 pads and fit braided hoses. About £750

3. 6 pot 330mm AP racing Brake kit £2000 ish

4. Godspeed two piece discs and pads and hoses. About £600

What are your opinions???

I have AP 6 pot (CP7040) calipers front and Brembo calipers on the rear of my Spec C, with EBC Bluestuff brake pads all round

I can't comment on the K Sport calipers as I have never tried them but the AP calipers are fantastic with the Bluestuff pads, they stop you so quickly that it feels like your eyeballs are going to be thrown out of their sockets.

I do know someone who has the K Sport calipers on his Hawkeye WRX and he reckons they are a good caliper but the standard pads supplied with them are rubbish. He has upgraded to the Bluestuff pads so it will be interesting to see how they compare to my AP's.

If money is no object then go for the AP's without a shadow of a doubt as they are fantastic but if you want a lower cost alternative then the K Sport or D1 calipers are well worth a look.

Sorry forgot to say I have Godspeed two part discs on the front and Godspeed rear brake discs.

Thanks again for all the advice. Hopefully I may see some of you guys on some track days with my new AP's.
