Default mytyres

Ordered 4 tyres from mytyre on Sunday, paid via credit card and received a confirmation e-mail saying paid by card.
Received an e-mail Monday morning saying
'Unfortunately we have to inform you that as per company policy we cannot process your order until you transfer the outstanding sum into the following account'
I sent an e-mail back asking why I was asked for card details if they didn't intend to use them, concerned I'd be paying twice but received no reply. So I called them thinking I'd done something wrong, no. They said it could be the credit limit on the card, the address or the order value (£538) so I pushed them thinking I'd have to contact the card company but it appears that because they say it's the first time I've ordered from them, which it isn't even though it's a few years ago, and the value exceeded a certain limit I had no choice but to pay by bank transfer, I did have a choice and exercised it by cancelling the order.

I've used the card for far larger sums than this without issue, I can understand their caution but this should be clearly displayed or even a well worded e-mail explaining what and why they are doing it instead of sending e-mails basically saying, you haven't paid so you aren’t getting until you do, making you feel like you’re asking for something for nothing, which got my back up to start with.

Rant over.

I've had an e-mail reply to my first question and it appears that they could not find the address to which the card is registered, strange considering I lived here 14 years and had the credit card with this provider for over 5 years without anything like this happening.

I worked in Customer services for a few years and people do make mistakes but it was always best to say that you'd had a problem with something whilst checking the details again, it make the customer feel wanted and trusted, which I don't at the minute.

I think this is just mytyres policy for orders above a certain value. Happened to me last year - https://www.scoobynet.com/wheels-tyr...nt-issues.html.

Happened to me in November, though they took the payment anyway and said I had to pay via bank transfer as it was my first order with them! Took 24hrs for the money to be back in my account then I ordered ones from Elite on eBay! Better service and free next day delivery

Also have used Black Circles with no problems

Paul,
I had the same problem, because I had tyres delivered to an different address from my card reg. I paid with paypal, had the tyres 4 days later, and paid £ 83 a corner for Nokian 215 45 17. That was in Oct, and I think that they are £ 150 odd now. They are probably the best thing that I have changed on a car !! I`ll be buying some in the summer for my wrx

Tesco are doing tyres now (in partnership with BlackCircles). Just tried them and could get 215/45/17 Asymmetrics for £120 each.
