as above try Keith Michaels, although you must speak to moley to get a sensible quote, as a comparison my mothers insurance went up 48% never had a claim ETC i tried the comparison site and her insurance came back at just £300 for the best and £9,999 for the worst you can imagine which one she took.

I think the American insurance is a little different to ours in that the record of the individual has a big bearing on the price and hence if you have lots of claims, you pay more. Not like here if you don't have a lot of claims, but every one else does, you still end up paying for the bad, care free drivers.. It stinks

Given the discussions on here, I thought I'd check to see what's happened to my quote
Me: Male, 29, 12 years driving, 8 year no claims - protected, Cambridge
Car: 2002 STi, UK Spec
Six months ago - £735
Now - £1,672 (with £600 excess)
(both figures based on cheapest quote from a couple of comparison sites)
Staggering. To be honest, if that's the case in another six months time when I come to re-insure, I'll be selling it, simple as that. I love the car, but not that much...
EDIT: Though apparently if I say it is a UK car, rather than a UK Spec Euro import, the price drops to £930... I really need to contact subaru and find out where it's from!

The cheapest i got was using quidco (has an insurance comparison engine now too)
Admiral did knock off £100 to try and get close to it, was still about 80quid more expensive but i stayed for the time being
still they are taking the pee imo..
Male 31 (JUST! :P ) , 13 years driving, 9 years ncb protected in Colchester
£740 for a 2006 Scoob STI

I just got my renewal through and my insurance has more than doubled
Female 32 with 11 years ncb clean licence
Apparently the reason for the increase is due to my policy being raised by 20 - 60%. They had no answer when I pointed out that it had actually increased by more than 100% The broker told me My current insurer has now changed its age limit from 28 to 30 and then 30 to 35 and will no longer cover me even though I have been with them for the past 3 years and they seem to think the price they gave me was the best one on the market. Ive already found it cheaper on the first site I looked at and am waiting for more quotes tomorrow.
My advice is shop around. If you get a quote online always ring the company and they will almost always knock a bit more off the price.

I'm current;y with admiral multicar. V4 sti about £600 a year.
BUT....
Spoke to sky insurance. I think the guys name was luke. Knew all about the cars and SN.
Was very willing to discuss possible mods. Things like samco hoses, light weight pulleys, different alloys wouldn't affect the premium but needed to be declared in case of theft etc ..
Quote came in at £630.
He stated that they are currently insuring numerous 600bhp imprezas.
I'll def be changing once renewal time comes.

Feel free to give me a call on 0208 6427868 (ask for Gary Moulson)
We insure hundreds of modified Subarus, including several tuners from here, and 750+bhp cars.
Like-for-like cover for mods is easily available, and as a Subaru owner for the last 6 and a half years i like to think i know a thing or two about these cars

It will vary from company to company, but aslong as you have owned the car for a while it won't be a problem. Hard to give an exact figure, but normally 10-20% more assuming the supporting mods are made aswell (depending on the bhp of course).
If it's just the 2.1 with no further mods the increase will be less.

And now for rowdys top tip of the day, go have a look on money saving expert website. When you go on there it gives you an option to check your job description with others that mean the same thing, but end up costing you less when you fill in an application for insurance quotes.
I have just done this, and then on to go compare and got some quotes with my slightly altered job discription.
Given that my insurance has gone from £350, to £470, and then up again to £580 with Direct line over the past three years, and when I ran a quote online with them a couple of weeks ago and it came up at £800.
Now that was before my missus reversed the car out of the drive into the side of a Beemer that was parked directly opposite the drive, so with that added claim it would be sure to go up even more than the £800 quoted a couple of weeks ago (even with the bonus protection).
I was therefore quite chuffed to get not one quote below £800 on go compare, but thirty seven quotes below £800, the cheapest of which was £484.04.
Next best quote was by the same company (the green insurance company) for the same cover plus legal assistance and breakdown cover for £531.49
Direct line can jog on this year.
