its advisable to get remapped even with decatted system.
1. for the gains of the decat.
2.for general running and safety of engine.
your best bet is to decide what you want to do with the car,get all mods ready too fit and get mapped up at same time.

my old car was a uk my99 turbo wagon which was running 315bhp/320lbft.
this was my mods...
ninja sports cat downpipe
decat mid section
h&s backbox
vf35 turbo
sti 8 tmic inc undertray
samco turbo hoses
adjustable fuel pressure regulator
3 port boost solinoid
exedy 230mm clutch
lightweight flywheel
ecutek remap

this was running on standard 440 injectors.1.36bar boost.standard intake pipe.
if you were planning more power than this.....take into account that your gearbox "could" be on borrowed time. hope this helps.

320 bhp is possible with a vf24,which is still a good jump from the 215 bhp your car currently has,and in a uk car it makes a nice driveable car which you can use on a daily basis. If you are after more power than this then maybe you should opt for a vf35,but remember with extra power comes more torque, which will put more strain on the gearbox, clutch, etc.
The vf24 was fitted to JDM version 4 wrx sti's,which are quite a rapid car in there own rights, and is quite a quick spooling turbo compared to others in te vf range. Also with good supporting mods the actual power can vary between car to car,so your car might make 330 bhp or possibly 310 bhp.

No such thing as a UK V5 classic, its either an MY98 or an MY99 but it's confusing when using versions on none STI classics, funny thing is that order a part and you may find its wrong for your car

As I can see your car is a MY99 turbo 2000, please call it so
Your ecu is mappable, your injectors are big enough, a fuel pump is advisable due to your cars age/mileage, look at the brakes due to their wonderful stopping power (I changed mine on my first MY00 back in 2000 due to them being woeful), there will be more stress on parts like the clutch etc, you will have to take the lot into consideration when modding.

Do not contemplate a turbo change to VF24 without a remap.
!) It won't run right.
2) Some spiritted driving and you will total the engine.

VF24 is good to 335 bhp or thereabouts. Your TY754 gearbox if that is what is fitted is good to over 400 bhp in responsible hands.
If you decat the UK 99 you will probably be OK without a remap but it is advisable and you may hit boost creep. Rather than goose an engine, plan your mods sensibly, carry them out and get one remap.
