Default Standard Headunit 05 Blob

I'm sure everyone knows how rubbish they are or are they? When you switch the 'loud' button (bass boost?) it sounds better but distorted. Too improve the sound is it the Headunit or the Speakers which need replacing?

Headunit first, speakers a close second. You'll need some Dynomat or similar too

I replaced the front speakers with a decent set of components last year and fitted a new head unit at the weekend. The difference is unbelievable. The Std speakers are the worst i've ever seen and the head unit is underpowered.
Only issue i've had is (and i've heard it from others too) the radio reception with the new head unit is pish. It won't lock onto any stations and has constant interference... Eeven with the engine off so it's not caused by the alternator or a dodgy earth.
CD's and music DVD's it is then!
