Just Been on Subaru UK Website .......
.... and it seems to indicate that a new STi is over £33,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I looked in May 2010 - they were being knocked out for £27,000 ..... which, for something so cheaply built and ill equiped was ludicrous.
£33,000+ is complete madness ...... the loss through depreciation is massive, what over 3 years? A loss of £23,000 I would guess?
An Impreza was never really cheap - but this has got ridiculous ........

Blimey that is a lot! I'd never buy a new car again, especially a sports car.
Mind you, I have been eyeing up Civic derv munchers.

£33,405 ................ and that's not for 2 - it's EACH!!
How can that be considered sensible money?
You can get some real quality motors for that, and a lot less ....

I still catch myself wanting to wave to other Scooby drivers - even now, after 7 months of no Scooby!!
These are going to be rarer than hens teeth on the roads ..... there is a limited number of mental cases still allowed to drive!!!

£33 grand? is that all, i would pay £44 grand if it means not driving Thomas the Tank like you grandad.

£33,000 is a lot but I personally very much doubt an STi hatch will be worth only £10,000 after 3 years. The 08 hatches with ludicrous tax are coming upto 3 years old now and I haven't seen any for £10,000 - plus they wouldn't have been £33,000 new either, so the percentages are even more against a price of £10,000.

Hasn't nurse been round to give you your medication yet.
You would be hard pressed to get a 7 year old STi for 10 grand let alone a 3 year old one, probably looking at closer to 20 grand.
Oh well never mind, keep that hairdressers car of yours that is going up in value (lol, have you seen the price of them on autotrader) for another couple of years and you will be able to do a straight swap .

All joking aside Pete does have a point. These cars (even leaving aside the fact I think they look awful) are not worth £33K. That is serious money for a car and the Subaru just does not cut the mustard at that price.

I have to agree they do look awful regardless of the price. On a positive note they do make the hatch look better, they are really starting to grow on me especially in white with dark alloys!

I certainly never bought my blobeye based on ascetics, the only problems i can see currently are price and certain engine integrity issues. If these issues could be resolved and the cars sold at a more competitive price like they were a few years ago compared to other performance motors normal service will be resumed.
But at the end of the day you have to blame the EU and the tree huggers.

It sadly seems like Subaru has lost the plot.
I won't be buying anything later than a blob or hawk eye.
I would like to finish my Subaru ownership with a Litchfield but after that
I have my sights on the new M1 from BMW. 370BHP to the back wheels.
Same size car as the original M3 E30. All the other M powered cars have developed a middle aged spread but the M1 looks lean. 3 litre straight 6.
I just dont like what Subaru has to offer later than the Hawkeye. The designs lack imagination.
In comparison I think the blob and hawk are beautiful looking cars with a real road presence. I know looks aint what these cars are about but it matters enough to me.
I would love to think that Subaru find their way again but they just seem to take a shot in the dark and hope for the best. Surely they can do better.
I dont think Mitsubishi do much better either tho.
I admit that there are too many BMW's about for the marque to be anything special but M powered cars are altogether different and a nice little packag like the 1 series seems awesome.
I'm in no rush to leave the Subaru fold tho but can see that they dont make exciting cars presently.

In 1997 an import Type-R was £27K I wanted one... UK turbo( Catalunya) £21.6K, so I got one.
In 2002 a Prodrive STI Type-UK cost me £27.75K
So they aren't exactly running off into the luxury items class are they ?
