Hi
You can top it up with Dot 4 , if the level has dropped it will be an indication that the pads are wearing , as the pads wear the pistons will come further out of the calipers , which uses more fluid from the reservoir , you need to watch out as if you refill it back up , and then change the pads , when you push the pistons back into the calipers the fluid will go back into the reservoir and overflow and drip down your engine bay.

You should be able to see the meat left on the pads to give you an idea how worn they are

Hope this helps

Cheers Ian

HI
Yes if your flushing it through Dot 5.1 is a better option , I only said about dot 4 as you were asking about a small top up

I can supply you Dot 5.1 at £9.50 a litre which is enough to do the whole system and have a little left over
Check out the deals I have on with discs and pads when your ready

Cheers Ian
