Default Storing a car for 6 months at a time?

This time next year I might be looking for another Impreza. This year its the turn of the house so all spare money is going into that.

I've got an old Jeep cherokee that I really don't want to sell to make way for the scoob so I'd like to alternate them every 6 months - scoob for summer and Jeep for winter.

This would mean storing the car not in use in the garage. Now our garage is one these rows of garages away from the house itself. The problem here is that it can't be heated and it does leak a bit - although I would cover them over.

I've had an old MK3 golf in there since March and it wasn't in the best of condition when it went in and it looks alot worse for being in the garage for so long - it's fate is either ebay or the scrapper.

My concern is that I don't want to put one of my cherished cars in there and it look a mess when its time to come out.

Put it in clean dry and after a good coat of polish/wax. Make sure the interior is dry and all fluid levels are good. Then put a decent cover over it, an outside one if the roof leaks etc and it should be fine. My mk2 golf is stored outside during the winter and isnt even covered but it does have a lot of coats of wax on it. Comes out at easter time and a quick wash and its looking great again. I do start it and run it once every couple of weeks as well.

Take the wheels off and get a decent car cover and a tarp ontop keep the water off.

Expect the struts and brakes to rust. Leave the handbrake off.
