Booked in with the 'Monster' next week
I wave bye bye to the WRX and pick up the Spec D on Monday. On Thursday I have a session with JGM booked - can't wait
I am keeping the car standard (probably chuck in a green filiter) so wondered what results I could expect?

Both are very different. I'll leave it to some of the other guys to outline the Spec C for you, but essentially this is a JDM special edition which is just about the quickest point to pointer in standard guise that Subaru has produced. The Spec D (Specification Discreet) is basically a UK Sti without spoilers, badging, etc and with leather interior - designed for the more mature driver like me

Keep us informed will be very interested in your results.
Had my Spec D for a week, was thinking of going for a 3" exhaust sytem with sports cat and then remapping.
How much is your remap costing?

For reference Dj Jon has a Spec D 3" exhaust and remap, running around 350bhp, and 400nm.......happy days......Interested in the cost involved from JGM though>>??

I'll let you know what the outcome is next friday. I want to keep this car standard (other than the re-map) so it will have stock exhaust, etc.

Should have added - I would be more than happy with 330bhp. First target is to out perform STi with PPP - anything else is a real bonus

Interested.
I'm thinking along the same lines, although i have the 2.0 STI MY55. I don't want mega power and would like to know what can be achieved with minimal changes and then remap.

From what i hear a 2.5 sti will get around 330-350 BHP from re map, and very minimal mods.
Since a 2.0 sti start 20bhp or so down i would guess the end result would be similar, so around 310-330......just guessing though...
Still would be useful to know the cost of this remap WRX>?

Uprated fuel pump + TSL sports-catted exhaust and a filter made 340 bhp back in the dark ages when that was quite a lot...
( Open source map guess £350. Ecutek more like £600 )
LOL
dunx
P.S. 2002 STI Type UK.

What about fuel pump, filter, cat back and remap. Or is it best to get the sports cat. Just want to keep it simple for now

JGM charges £550 for first mapping session and then another £100 or so use of rolling road. Compared to PPP this seems like a steal

All the problems I've ever heard of that weren't due to "damage" on cars were down to mapping.
There aren't many that are recommended. IMHO.
Bob Rawle, Andy F., Zen, Richard Bulmer and JGM are at the top of the pile, how many of them use OS software ? None !
You choose. IMHO it's a no brainer.

Pay £550 for Ecutek or £250 of Open source & get the same thing, no brainer indeed...

there is nothing for me to gain in charging more money and using ecutek if it were the same.
Thats not just me making that choice but all the other long standing experianced professional mappers, I am not aware of any that have gone from using ecutek to using open source.
Easiest way to describe it is a tescos value biscuit and a tescos finest biscuit.. some people will fail to tell the difference, some people will prefer one over the other, some people will try the value one and swear blind they had the better one, because it was cheaper but they have never tried the finest so cant really compare.

done a lot of ppp cars with just an air filter etc and they work very well..
Done a number of standard sti and wrx and tend to gain lots on the throttle response and torque just not as big power gains and you have to be careful to preserve the cats and not to create too much back pressure. Usually make at least ppp figures on standard car without the ppp mods fitted just a remap.
