sorry to be the bearer of bad news......
i went to trade mine in a few months ago, not wanting to blow my own trumpet but it was mint, not a mark on it !, 20 k on clock, fsh , new MOT & TAX. i went to a few garages large and small and they just dont want to buy gas guzzling scoobies ! they were the guys exact words, they all offered about 1k less than we buy any car !!!!.
if you can hold out for a private sale, BUT its a buyers market NOT a sellers at this time. i lost just short of 6k on mine in 14 months

Just been quoted (awaiting inspection) for my MY02 Bug STi decent condition, 75k miles
The company car lease guys offered me £3700, looking at the Glass guide that seem to be in the right ballpark

Well I bought it private about eight months ago - paid just under 6k
Looking at pistonheads/autotrader/here I think a reasonable price at private sale would maybe be 4.5k?
So for a trade price and they take it off my hands when they give me the keys to my new car... doesn't sound a million miles away.

TRUE. When it comes to traders you will get the same, or more money for a standard Impreza. Mods are personal choices, and personalisations of their owners. We all know spending £4k on mods can get you fek all back come sale time, unless you find like minded petrol head, who does'nt want the fun of doing it himself.......

Price depends on how long you are prepared to wait for a buyer.
£5K for a bug WRX you'll wait a long time if never.
£3K for a bug WRX you'll probably get a few bites and gone in a month or so.
Anywhere in between depends on how long you can wait for it to sell.

I sold my 52reg bugeye STI last week for £5850.
Good history (not full), grey import from Malta, good condition with 60k on the clock.
I had it advertised for £5900 and had lots of interest.
£3700 is a crazy price.

No, £3700 is a 'TRADE' price !
As a private sale you can ask what you want, whether someone is willing to pay it or not is their choice.
At the moment, the only Bugeye STI's that seem to be selling are around the £5k mark, they then turn up being broken for spares !
It is a sad fact that they are worth more in parts than as a complete car.
The 6 speed box alone seems to sell for £2k so you still have the rest of the car to make up the difference.

I said to my work colleague today that we hardly see any subaru,s or evo,s on the way to and from work these days (90 mile round trip). It,s clear that most people can,t afford to run them what with fuel prices, insurance and tax rising. I too don,t use mine for work these day,s as i have a diesel corsa (65 mpg) so it,s my weekend car. This is a good compromise for me as i,m saving on motoring costs and get to keep my subaru.
As for trade in prices, well you will allways get more if you sell privately.
When i bought my subaru 7 years ago i was offered £5000 by subaru main dealer for my lexus which made me laugh and ask if they were joking. I sold it privately for £7000. I then snubbed the main dealer and bought my subaru from motorpoint

Agreed, and of course there is a trade off between the hassle of selling yourself, or PX/Trading in to the dealer - which while the cash price they give you may be lower, may also offer a sweetener on the car deal.
