Default what temperature does your oil get to

i have a 95 wrx v limited, as standard as can be(260ps). having just recently bought and fitted boost, volt and oil temp gauges im wondering what oil temps i should be achieving. the car seems to run at a constant 48c or 118f measured at the sump. does this sound rite to anyone?
their lamco dials which require me to use the sump for the reading.

I used to get 80-90c and over 100 when hammering it. 48c seems way too low.

the gauge goes -20c to 50c (-4f to 122F), so maybe its not oil temp

Measured from the sump you'll never get an accurate reading anyway, but it is definitely not an oil gauge if it reads in the negative and maxes out at 50C (certainly not one destined for a car anyway). I think the first increment on mine is 30C, going up to 130C IIRC... Normally see about 85 to 90C on the road.

I agree.. sounds like an outside temperature gauge. Only other variable I can think of would be charge temps... maybe?

Oil should be north of 80 deg c in order to evaporate and dispel contaminants.

Water would also be north of say 70 deg c.

Mine runs at 90 degrees C except when giving it some when it can go just over 100.

Water stays at 82 and reaches 92 when the fans kick in.

Best place for an OIL temperature gauge is in the tappings on top of No3 cylinder.

This is for the air intake Temp, but did it come with a sender? As I thought these just wired into the air temp sensor in the airbox?
