Default Is this camera/car mount a waste of money?

I'm thinking about getting an in car camera and this came up:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hidden-HD-Digi...item19c16c3656

Its crazy cheap but i don't know **** all about cameras. Would I be wasting my money?
I just want it for recording fun drives (on closed roads) and occassional trackdays.

Would i be better off with something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vehicle-Car-Mi...item4aa8dd921f

Or am i being too much of a cheapskate?

That does look sweet but i can't afford to spank over £100 on it. Thats valuable remap money!

I was wondering if buying a really cheap one will be a complete waste of money?

I use one of these HERE mounted to a soft magnet from HERE, item E623

Very cheap but gives good results

Here is a YouTube video, its very compressed as I have only have a 0.5Mbps internet connection so uploads take forever. First 10s of video is choppy but OK after that.

Strangely i managed to find a youtube video comparing the two cameras i was considering!

I definitely will avoid the really cheap one but i am considering the £35.99 one.
I'll be honest i don't want to spend more than that on one.

Am I missing something as the camera from the website is showing an example of someone getting caught for speeding using their own camera. Now Im not into marketing but that seems like a very strange way of advertising your products.

Would imagine this is showing its possiblty as being installed in company cars etc to keep tabs on drivers speed / stops etc ??
what is the variable graph table showing in the info screen ??

quote "Hey its not the most expensive if you buy from Ebay US, its only £150.. thats not bad, with very fast shipping. "

would be great but would imagine the possiblty off customs fees / uk handling charges etc could make the £150 bargain not so much off a bargain after all.

If you look at the video on youtube the description is:

This is a higher quality version of a video recorded on the Roadhawk RH-1. A customer's Monaro being driven by a local garage at more than 125mph. A high speed dangerous chase on busy public roads.
This is a screen capture of the software running on desktop. The original video is a smooth 25fps.

How have you mounted that then? curious, cause I bought one of those cameras on a whim ages ago, used it once and the vibration was so bad the footage was unwatchable.

Yeah, I'd like to know that, not bad footage for such a small and cheap camera. DT-SPD, any chance of a pic of it mounted? Cheers

Here is a pic of it mounted. I just used one of the brackets/clips that the camera came with and mounted it to the soft magnet from my original post.

I too was quite impressed by the footage for such a cheap camera etc.

Ive got some other vids with it on my Golf TDi driving a bit faster with the camera just wedged in the front grill, still quite good quality, I will add them to youtube later.
