Default Not firing on all cylinders and stuck in a foreign land.!

My 03 wrx was running on three cylinders. Had the spark plugs changed but it's still on 3.........could it be a fuel injector or do I prepare for the worse?.............................Help please. I'm stuck in Sicily with the car.

Cheers

I had this in a MY00 and it just turned out to be corrosion on 1 of the HT lead contacts.

Cheers, on idle it's on 3 cylinders but at high revs it goes on 4 cylinders.........do you think this means it's not piston?

I'd say HT lead or coil pack mate, you can check HT leads with multi meters and check the resistance, there is a calculation, not sure of it now.

Or a crack in coil pack.

1) Check for spark.
2)Look at injector operation and swap #3 injector for #1 for instance.
If you are happy that all is well ignition and fueling wise then compression check and leakdown.
Good luck.

do you get any pops/bangs when it's been running for a bit? If so and/or you get the CAT temp warning light then you're getting unburnt fuel which suggests no spark on once cylinder.

Do these have indivudual coil packs for each plug? if so try changing them around and see if the non-sparking one changes or stays put.

What has been done since it was running ok? I had the same problem on my legacy which turned out to be dodgy cam-sensor readings due to the cam wheel not on true following a head gasket change.
