Hi guys, Im looking at picking up a Subaru this weekend. It includes a RAC Trackstar which is all certificated but want to know if its always on, or whether I have to pay a subscription?
How does this actually work? Could anyone shed some light on this?

You have to pay a yearly subscription which tends to work out more than the savings on your insurance for having it. Some let you pay for 3 years as a lifetime subscription for the car but it doesn't transfer to the new owner. If you pay it is on permenantly and you need to let them know when the car maybe moving without the keys i.e. being towed or they think it is being stolen!

i have an RAC tracker, my insurance would insure me without it. i pay about 12 pound a month i think. if you have to have it then you dont really have a choice. you can pay by an annual sub cant remember how much tho.

I had a cobra track tracker fitted to mine and paid the lifetime fee for it. I have got to say the service of cobra is 100% first class!!
Battery went low and within seconds they were calling me up, anoying it was 1am in morning but rather that then nothing!!
If yours has a tracker on it and your planing to keep more then 3 years then it normally would be cheaper to pay lifetime subs. But people have mixed feelings on trackers, I think if you got it activate it because if you dont and something happens your kick yourself and wished you had it working.
