Services.
Hi folks, Just wondering how many of you get your car serviced at main dealer, private mechanic or DIY. Just had my yearly service done. Interested to see what you others do?

Do you have to pay alot for that or is an ok ammount? Do you get to actually speak to the person carrying out the service? As i prefer to deal with the person seeing to the car.

Costs are about half that of a main dealer and the reason I use them apart from the good job they do is for the friendly and personalised service. They always take the time to talk through options and work they are doing.
If you find a good service it makes a big difference to the costs and experience of owning a Scoob. Ok it's never going to be cheap but if you have confidence in the garage maintaining your car then thats peace of mind

Subaru 4 you in Newbury, Berkshire. Hour and a bit from you but they work on NOTHING but Subaru's, have everything you could need. Provide a great customer service i found, and saved me £300 from dealer pricings on a full service with upgraded parts/ oils.

Specialist all the way. I've found some who know the car inside out as opposed to some main dealers who based on my experience, clearly don't.
Far less chance of being ripped off by a specialist too in my experience

I go to Bell & Colvill. I used to use a specialist, but it was just a bit too far away - and no courtesy car, so it would be an all day job to wait with car. I reckon what I pay extra at the dealer makes up for the extra petrol I used.
Also, as the car is over 6 years old, you get a 40% discount on labour. I know the car is getting on a bit now, but as an RB5 I want to look after it properly.
I've had other work done by other places, as and when I think a specialist job can be done a bit cheaper. Godspeed, scoobyclinic and Subaru4U, who are all very good, just a bit too far to travel.

I have done almost everything myself so far but as I dont have a garage I had to take it to a specialist for a cambelt change and its going back next week for some new rear bushes.
However the specialist I used ( GBH Motorsport ) are really good so I may just ask them to take care of future servicing work. I'm getting too old to be turning the spanners out in the cold and damp.
