few simple questions
hi all, looking at getting a scooby, dont mind insurance so much cos i expect it but how important is it to run them on the more expensive unleaded? ive heard it can damage engine heads i think? its a subaru impreza turbo 2000 im after.
also the turbos on these things, left stock without being run at higher boost and used properly, what is their life expectancy roughly? i rememeber looking up renault 5 turbos and seemed to be a yearly service part
cheers

On a standard uk turbo 2000 they can run normal 95ron fuel, why you would is a different matter as the car will respond much better with 97+ fuel in there
Turbos should happily last into the hundreds if thousand mile mark with no issues if not stressed, servicing is very regular for these cars though, we are talking 7.5k or 6 months, whichever is first, and depending on what year car means how much you can end up forking out, ie 99 model 3 yr cambelt change 00 is 4 yr, otherwise services are similar.
I would also watch out for the dreaded rot around the windscreen and rear arches, this will cost a packet to sort out
