V-Power is the new optimax at 99, the old stuff was 98. Personally I wouldn't use that other crap but if it's a UK car it should be fine on 97.

Thread hijack I use T99 mostly although used V Power t'other day as no Tesco's around ... it was actually a few pence cheaper per litre than T99 have they reduced the price of V Power recently as it always used to cost miles more than T99

Why do they use98ron on Cap though ive never seen 98 ron ever

Old Optimax was 97 or is the 98 badge a Japanese thing ?

What did you all use before the 99s came out and did subaru insist still on 98 ?

or was it always 97

Id guess you all didnt use addatives just any super unleaded ?

sorry to hijack this thread,

I have been using bp ultimate for a while now in my 94 wrx type-ra and put shell vpower in the other night,

The car seems to hold back now as in not pulling like it used to?? would i have to wait for the ecu to get used to it.

Mods are: panel filter, full hks hipower 409 and de-cat.

Cheers, john

It's possible it wad 97 at some point in the past, but since I started using it around 2004 it's been 98.

Jonboy, I would strongly recommend you start using V-Power or at least tesco 99 in the RA if you can. Ultimate(ripoff) is only 97 and is known to not get on well with Subarus.

If you reset the ecu (unplug battery for a couple of hours) and take it for a run it should re-learn it's limits which will be higher on 99.
