Is your car prepared for rallying? It will take a pounding driven at competitive speeds off-road, so you need sump guard, tank guard, uprated shocks (road shocks will overheat in about a mile of forest stage driving) etc.

I would recommend joining a local motorsport club. The MSA web site (www.msauk.org) has a list.

Generally your only option for testing/practising is to hire a venue (it's usually best to do this with some other drivers to spread costs). When I was last rallying (about 8 years ago) we used to hire a venue in Oxfordshire which, IIRC, was about £400 for a full day (which we would typically split between three or four cars).

It was in Church Enstone (just off the A44 between Oxford and Chipping Norton). I did a quick search to see if I could find who runs the venue now - unfortunately it looks like quite a few companies use it to run experience days but it wasn't clear which (if any) of them actually owns the place now.

Bud thats great! i will go speak to them, book a days tuition then get blagging to find out how i can get in there! ha
It seems like rally is quite a hard sport to get into even if you can afford the car! surely it would make sense for some of the car manufacturers and even subaru modding companies etc to encourage new people into the sport of rally driving future mc rae's etc
Anybody know anywhere else in south of uk please let me know cheers
