Default Throttle position sensor sevicable?

My 95 wrx has just came up with a code 31 throttle position sensor. Now us it possible to strip and clean or do I just replace it.

What's happened to the wanted section?

If you have a multimeter to hand you can check the output voltage of the TPS. Best to do this at the ECU end to make sure it is not a wiring issue, then check the tps end if no success. Plug B95 on the ECU and pin 2 is where you need to stick your red probe, then earth the black, (Refer to ECU pinout if need be available online). Then with the ignition on it should measure about 4.7 volts throttle closed and about 0.9 volts fully open, (throttle depressed), or thereabouts.
