Hawkeye wrx disapointing
I have fancied a Subaru for a few years now. Recently had the opportunity to get one, so did, a 2006, a silver Hawkeye in immaculate condition.
Looks good enough but after not being able to lose my mate in his 56 reg is220d. And being shamed by my other mates r32 Im thinkin that my sortee into jap muscle may be shortlived.
I thought these cars are meant to be fast???
And the brakes are just absolutely diabolical. After one fast run I thought they were about to catch fire, serious amounts of smoke coming out them.
Build quality is excellent I cannot fault that.
But in all honesty Im disapointed, its sat on my drive for the last 3 weeks. I cant bring myself to drive it.

I know wrx's are slow ......joking! But a r32 beats you?
I sold a 2006/06 32 to buy the wr1 and that was slow as foooook unless you battered it stupid....worse car I've owned and worse on juice , my trip comp used to read 5mpg when giving it the beans
You need a sti fella , or start tweaking the wrx

Might be worth having the car checked over by someone who knows. I have the same car albeit re mapped with a few bolt ons here and there and have no issues with it. Yes, it took me a few weeks of driving the car to learn how to get the best out of it but 0-60 in 5.8 in standard form sounds at least comparable to the other cars mentioned.
If you change the car, it might be worth taking your potential new purchase to this private drag strip where you've been ragging the WRX against your mates before you pay for it, to be sure it ticks all your boxes.

well as BHP is a function of torque you're both right. :P
You should have looked into things a bit more before you bought. Once you do that you realise the WRXs are nothing special and you really should start with the STi if you want something fast.
Also sounds like yours isn't in good shape so sorting it out might make it run better if it's been neglected.

Wierd, i have jsut recently bought a WRX but plan to get an STI next possibly. But the WRX seems more than fast enough to be fair and certainly no slouch

I changed the exhaust on mine, decat vf43 turbo sti intercooler and remapped and it is running around 330 bhp but the car is so responsive on the road and really quick. All that cost me under 1k second hand parts.
Maybe stick with it and add your own mods to it.

it's a matter of relativity and also how well the car is running. It sounds like this particular car might not be running optimally, but also depends what you're comparing it to.

Ive had abit of a play against my mates r32 2003 plate. Its funny my Wrx ripped him apart on the straight...He said so himself. The R32 is a quick car but its no match against the scooby.
I think something is wrong with your car or something mate??????????
