Default 4 door WRX STI..

Is anybody on here running one of these?

I'm really interested in getting one, but my main worry is the hard ride. I would like to know what they're like to live with day to day?

Oh.. the stereo must be the worst fitted to any car currently on sale!!

Hi. I don't own a 4dr but have driven / been in a few at my dealer. The ride is superb for a car with the handling it has. You could live with it easily.
As for the stereo, it depends what you mean by worst? If its sound quality, its actually very good. With ipod connection etc. Might not look the best, but personally I'd rather it sounded better than it looked.

Let us know what you do.
Cheers

Perhaps I should take my ipod next time!?

I have also had 2 dealers agree that the head unit is dreadful lol

What colour do you prefer? For me it's white or blue.

The ride is normally harder on the Spec C, you can live with one day to day but you need to drive both a spec c and a standard version, in 90% of the cases the normal version will suit more people as its a better "day to day" car.

It would be the dark gray for me, but I'm biased
The car has a great ride for spec C suspension. Its more compliant than the hatch.
Which dealers have you been looking at?

If they are good dealers they'll let you have a good test drive. My dealer lets me take cars out myself. That'll be the best way to understand the firmness of the ride. It'll also depend what car you have now and thus what you are used to. Might also be an idea to have a drive in another performance car to get a comparison. I'm sure you'll find nothing anywhere near as quick with a better ride.

i have 1 m8 and also 3 kids, to be honest not much in that and my old WRx-S the suspension is harder but nothing like youd expect, i use mine daily for Business.

As for the stereo, it actually in my eyes sounds ok, BUT be careful when you swap it, because ive tried 2 headunits JVC 830 and a Pioneer and they sounded worse, i think the speakers are set for the headunit, If u swap it then swap the speakers too. but i do use MP3 on a USB stick and its sounds ok, and im pretty keen to sound, still no match though on my old BOSE system in my old car. I will say however the handsfree is functional but ****, too much noise in car really, So i have that paired with my iphone personal and use a plantronics UC pro for business calls.

I got Plasma Blue.

I aint really driven it fast apart from the normal bez from the lights on tonking up a slip road to m1, but last weekend i did on country roads, and i can say i was very impressed with both the way you just pointed it and it went, no lean like my last one felt more sturdy, and flicking through the gears and power was great, i think i unleased the beast of what is known in an STI

Still a bit expensive though, when you can get a Lichfields Jap Import spec C for 29,995 or 33,995 for the 350 model

Also if u connect an IPOD yeah it works but headunit display is so small its a bast to flick through the tracks, U really need a 7inch screen for that stuff.

im prob gonna get pioneer 20bt

I just can't do the hatch though (there is a JDM hatch on Pistonheads for 25k IIRC), but the 4 door is gorgeous IMO.

Do you have the large boot spoiler? I'm lead to believe that you have to have the geometery reset if you do!? I would want a spoiler on the white car but not on the blue.

no i didnt get it, I did speak to subaru technical for there views on the proper subaru 1, and they said they were looking at possibly releasing it with some brackets for the boot, as the UK boot im told is weaker than USA, dont ask me why.

I got mine from MKAR in Rochdale and they had a white and black in the white had the Spiler HT Autos do, of which looks good, BUT i dont like the metel bracket that secures the wing looks cheap, If im ever gonna do it , its subarus or i,ll do without.

Plus i dont fancy my boot being drilled,

Pers m8 the car looks very conservative wolf in sheeps clothing, people still comment on mine on sunday a guy in a shed pulled alongside me and waved, wound window down and proceeded to ask me about it whilst we both drove 40mph LOL, he prob wanted to hijack me, but plesent enough.

U can see all the chavs and race boys nearly climbin out the car to have a look at the 4door

hehe

1 thing i will say is my old hatch was more practical in a sence.

Space for a dog cage
Seats go down for ******** LOL no but seriously getting stuff in i actually got in

http://www.rolandus.com/products/pro...25&ParentId=40

full size digital Piano, but i agree the 4 door looks cool and rekindles a bit of that old thing that was missing.

Contacted Cheam Motors today regarding getting a rear wing spoiler. Apparently it is only supplied along with a new uprated bootlid! £945, and none available in the UK at the moment and we would need to order one from Japan....

It looks ok when it is in it's home position and you can't see the metal part, but surely that will cause a problem with your warranty?
